I see cellphones in the hallways in school every day, and I see them as a distraction. Some teachers allow cellphones in classrooms for some reason. I view cellphones as a distraction in class and a cheating device. I’ve seen many kids cheat with cellphones on tests and it’s unfair to kids that take the test fairly. Kids also don’t get a proper education because they are texting instead of taking notes. One reason why I think phones shouldn’t be allowed in school is because they are devices used for cheating. According to usnews.com, 1 third of high schoolers use or have used phones to cheat on tests in high school. This makes it unfair for kids who complete assignments and test the correct way by taking their time and studying. Not only can they be a distraction, but they can also keep students from taking notes. According to Huffingtonpost.com, a school in London saw great improvement in test scores after banning phones in their school. This is obviously happening because the phone were a distraction and kept kids from taking notes and paying attention in class. There are some classes in my school where phones are allowed and kids do take advantage of the rule in the class. Finally, some may make the argument that cellphones are a learning device. They say that phones can be used to take notes, look at flashcards, or do assignments online. However, I know that kids won’t use them as learning devices much like our school macbooks. Kids will use their cell phone privilege to text and cheat, not take notes and work on school work. People that make the claim that cellphones should be allowed for school work obviously don’t know that high schoolers will try to cheat every opportunity they
