Why We Celebrate a Killing

Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that ~Dr. MLK Jr.

With the death of Osama bin Laden, was America’s celebratory actions justice or vengeance? Many who do not understand patriotism, may believe the post-celebration after the death of Osama bin Laden was hate filled celebration. However, after September 11, 2001 – America wanted justice (though albeit some wanted vengeance). Nonetheless, the death of Osama bin Laden is justice to his direct involvement in the 9.11 attacks. But, what was the cause of celebration?
