Almost 50% of our children in the United States of America would live in a home with either parent sometime in their lives. Single parents carry out the work of parenting their children with the understanding that most responsibilities falls on them and it is more than they can handle (McDevitt & Ormrod, 2012). However, it is not easy for the children as well as the parent, for instance, communication is usually a huge issue. There are numerous communication issues that single parents are facing today. That is, parents should talk to their children early, they should be encouraging, supportive and positive. Single parents should also be open to their children, be honest as well listen.
