Why Should The Conservative Partys Retain Traditional Values?

The conservatives are a political party who make up the right side of the political spectrum who have a strong stance on law and order, religion, social order, traditional values (i.e. marriage) and strict law enforcement. As it can be seen, these values are highly interrelated and so if one of the values changes then that would lead to a chain effect and as a result, the party would develop a huge amount of distrust, therefore, they largely do not support change.
Conservatives still hold traditional values because they are bound to religious beliefs, this is evident in "The political system" which defines conservatism as the party that "…opposes radical change" and "sometimes supports initiatives that are seen as ‘traditional' or ‘family values.'" The conservative party focuses on their selves and takes actions that they believe are right by maintaining the values that were traditionally held and so do not pay particular regard to others people's beliefs. …show more content…

The conservatives consistently bring up the topic of same-sex marriage because in conservatism ideology their foundation mainly is built upon traditional beliefs and so the now the acceptance of same-sex marriages as a result of the change in society hugely goes against what they stand for. This change creates a lot of mistrust that they cannot tolerate and so they would take every step to terminate this change in
