Why People Do Not Live Up To Their Full Potential

I live in a day and age that the society does not live up to their full potential. This is seen in the people who we spend all of our time with, in the media, and in the towns we live in. Reaching our full potential often times means that you have to stretch yourself to past what you think you are capable of. And that is terrifying. I believe that is why people do not live to their full potential. Being terrified causes people to become lazy, and selfish and while looking at their backgrounds they allow these things to hinder them. This is able to happen because we know whats in these limits, the limits of being lazy, selfish and our backgrounds. It is normal to us and we are comfortable living within these expectations. The society that I live in today is honestly one of not reaching full potential because of the laziness. Whether they come from a poor or rich family, Caucasian or African American family, or even if they went through horrible situations in their lives, they allow these situations to keep them from achieving full potential. In England, Arkansas this is found to be true. The majority of my town is in the category of being African American and also being poor. When people graduate from England High School unless they are in the top of the class and have good families, they do not go to college. They stay in England, Arkansas and live off of the government because that is what their parents did and that is what they find comfortable. It is unusual for people in those situations in my town to of to college after graduation. They are scared to try something that has not been done in their families before, scared to step out and be brave. They allow their backgrounds to control their futures-futures of no true
