Why Is Giving Back Important

When I started my freshman year of high school I did not understand why it was important to give back to my community. I knew that it was good to help and serve others, and that there is a great need for everyone to help each other, especially those who are facing finical, mental, or physical problems. As I contributed and helped out more within my community I begun to understand why it was important. Giving back to the community is an opportunity to show how grateful I am for the people and places around me. It is an opportunity to strengthen my bond and the bonds between everyone else. When I am helping others and giving back in my community I get the chance to know them and their stories, they become more than just another face on the street. By strengthening this bond everyone becomes unified as one allowing for a much safer and happier community as a whole. What makes are school so great is that we have large net work of alums and donors who give their time and money in an effort to give back to our schools’ community and to help many students to come. Like them I understand the duty we have that is giving back to our school even if it is through small acts. That is why I enjoy helping out in our school spirit shop, guiding and giving advice to parents and new students when they come in for uniforms or spirit wear. When I get the chance I try to help out with different school functions like dodgeball tournaments or in clubs like key club and community club. I help out my coaches at practice or meets when they need timers or someone to get equipment on the bus.
