George Washington is the Greatest Leader Ever
How would you describe George Washington? The common answer he was the first President of the United States, however, few will respond he was a good leader. George Washington was a very influential person throughout his military and political career; therefore, he was a good leader. On the other hand, many will argue he was not a good leader due to his many defeats in battle. This paper presents examples of his leadership throughout his career to remind us what he has accomplished leading up to and throughout his Presidency. Washington had the extraordinary ability to work skillfully in joint operations along with the French land and naval assets. He successfully coordinated and placed his Continental Army; including directing French assets in perfect positions, therefore the British had no choice but to surrender in Yorktown. “The Siege of Yorktown forced Cornwallis’ surrender and compelled the start of serious negotiations that ended in recognition of American Independence at the Peace of Paris” (Perkins, n.d.). No one in the American Revolutionary War played such a significant role in directly influencing American soldiers and the American people to continue to fight for what they believe in no matter the cost. He had the talent to keep the stressed, exhausted, and divided colonial army together. In addition, his leadership and presence was essential to support a cohesive army even in dismal times. Equally important, he had lost more battles than he won but his influence over his soldiers was so great they believed that Washington would help them win their Independence. “He learned it was more important to keep his army intact and to win an occasional victory to rally
