The fear of the unknown is common among people and being ignorant can be the one factor that causes that fear. Cybercrimes are becoming increasingly common as more people are becoming clever and finding ways to use computers as tools to do the crime. Although there are many challenges in learning the basics of cybersecurity as I am currently facing in my school with classes such as AP Computer Science and cybersecurity, I will be diligent and strive to fulfill my goals. My interest in cybersecurity not only stemmed from my classes in school but also from daily exposure to it. I remember sitting on the couch, flipping through channels looking for an interesting show to watch, when I came upon a show called CSI: cyber. I started watching it and was impressed on how informative each episodes were and how cunning each crimes were being committed by the criminals. One particular crime was especially interesting, where the criminal was able to disrupt the signals of a software on a phone of a car service. He was able to hack and disrupt the signals by the use of social engineering. He used social engineering by tail gating his way into the headquarters and planting an evil twin inside. Not only did it make me love crime, mystery, and suspense; but also aware of the unlimited possibilities in the capabilities of computers and technologies. After watching this, I was thinking that this could also happen in real life in actual companies and their headquarters. Then, I thought of an idea to counter against the downloading of malware to web-surfing pcs. By making a better secure web gateway, it will filter data leak and malicious code.
