Recommended: Why should we ban homework

She gets home at 3:12 p.m on a Friday, she makes a plan that she will get all her homework done before Saturday so she has the whole weekend to binge watch her favorite show on Netflix. Fast-forward to Sunday night; after binge-watching her favorite show she realizes she has not even started her homework. Does that sound familiar? Or, he gets home after a long day at school and is ready for his football game. He decided he will get all his homework done before the game. Fast-forward to Sunday night; he had just realized he had not done any of his homework and ended up sleeping at 2:30 a.m. If any of those sound familiar, most adults and teenagers would agree that they procrastinate on most things that they would rather do later or just not do. The study of procrastination includes analyzing the science behind it, understanding why we do it, and learning methods to prevent it. …show more content…

One main reason that most, if not all teenagers/adults, would agree on is that it what we do not want to do an unpleasant task (Heshmat). No one wants to do there Algebra 1 homework so they decide to eat a snack or do homework from another subject that is easier for them. Another reason that we may not realize is true is that there is an absence of structure. What that means is that, for example, at most adults workplaces, they should not be checking their Facebook at their workplace because they may get fired so they are sure to get their work done. But at home, there are no rules at home for when you can check your Facebook feed so you tend to get distracted more easily
