“Courage doesn't mean you don't get afraid. Courage means you don't let fear stop you.”(-Bethany Hamilton) There are many things that scare us in life but it takes real courage to overcome those fears and stride forward. Many people don't think that courage is important but everyone needs it and everyone has it inside of them just waiting for it to come out. Courage is a very important character train because it improves your sociality, mentality, and strength. The first reason courage is important is because it helps us deal with social matters. For example kids at school have to deal with not being popular and to have courage to be themself and not having to stand with people but be able stand alone. Getting excluded in group activities
Many people believe that to have courage, you must conquer something physically challenging. Courage is a quality in which the mind is able to confront any difficulty, whether that be fear, danger or even pain. Scout and her older brother Jem are both influenced by
One of the best explanations of courage is the following by Maya Angelou: “One isn’t necessarily born with courage, but one is born with potential. Without courage, we cannot practice any other virtues with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.” Her explanation summarizes all that courage can lead you to who you are in life. Courage is standing up for what you believe in, despite disapproval, pain, fear, uncertainty, or intimidation. Courage is challenging what is normal. Courage is giving voice to those who cannot speak for themselves. Courage is using whatever power available to educate the world about injustice. Courage is following your heart even when the path is not known. Courage is trying after failing.
Courage is the thing which can be found in a child to an old man. It needs a lot of courage to take out courage from the heart. It is like a brain. It depends on the person, how and when he uses it. This tiny word has the power to convey the whole gesture of a person. According to Harper Lee?s genius ?To Kill a Mockingbird?, Courage is when you know you are licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through it through no matter what.
True courage is rarely found, while many strive for it, it is scarcely achieved. In the play Macbeth by William Shakespeare there are multiple acts of true bravery, which occur because of the desire to set past wrongs right. However, there are also many acts of cowardice because Macbeth and Lady Macbeth become greedy and commit many horrific crimes. It is these yearnings that set this tragic play in motion, and destroys any relationships that stand in the way of gaining it. The inevitable demise of Macbeth was set in motion by Lady Macbeth’s greed for power, but by Macbeth becoming King and gaining all this power his morals suffered greatly, and he became fearful and paranoid of anyone that was a possible threat to his throne.
According to Four Types of Courage (Cox,2006), courage are a different ways to have bravery. Some people believe that heroes are very courageous. Other believe that heroes are real. Moreover, she classifies a type of courage in to four types which are physical, social, moral, and creative. Each one has explained to give us how this types courage. I would like to mention about two ideas which are ask to name a courageous person, and lost usefulness.
To me having courage makes me feel stronger than ever. Courage is one of the things that helped me join NJROTC, and it helps me get through the days. Before I learned what courage was or even used it, I was too shy to even say my name out loud. But when I joined NROTC they helped me break my shyness. And now I see clear, I know in the future courage will help me stand up and make it to my goals in life.
Courage is resistance to fear. Mildred D. Taylor in her book, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, uses the main character, Cassie, to show courage. Cassie and her family have gone through some tough times that they have to get through. Cassie shows courage through when she was the bigger person to Lillian Jean in Strawberry, when she stands up to her teacher for Little Man, and when she helped T.J. In the book Cassie showed her attitude and how she wasn’t as afraid as she thought she was.
The ability to show courage is very important to be a hero. Courage means the ability to do something that you know is difficult or dangerous, and being able to carry on in spite of danger
Courage can lead to positive changes since you are motivated to stand up and make a difference and if one did not have courage, they would not attempt to do such a thing at all; If Martin Luther King Jr, Rosa Parks, Harriet Tubman, and Abraham Lincoln did not have any courage what so ever to make a change, our society would still be in slavery and also would not believe in equality for all. I strongly believe that if you have courage, you will change something for the best. The reason why I believe in courage being the number 1 way to lead to positive changes is because in the book The Cay Written by Theodore Taylor, Phillip was lost in a shipwreck and was taken in by a crew member of the ship named Timothy both which had sailed to a nearby cay, they both were stranded on the cay with limited resources only to have Timothy die from a fever and Phillip become blind, Phillip had the courage to live on his own and ended up being rescued, which in a way means that Phillip did not give up because he
Being determined has a big impact on courage because you need to drive like Rosa Parks did to make a difference. In 1955, Rosa Parks did not give up her seat to a white man. This is courageous because at the time African Americans were treated poorly and she decided to take a stand even though the consequences were harsh. The passage indicates in paragraph one that Rosa Parks was a part of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and organized social justice campaigns. Bravery is important when having courage because you need bravery, which means to have fear, to succeed.
But this isn’t the definition of courage. Courage is being able to act in the face of danger or in an uncomfortable state. Being stubborn and brash is the exact opposite, as someone acting as such may danger others and/or may be comfortable by standing alone. A prime example is shown in 12 Angry Men, as Juror 8 and Juror 3 represent courage and arrogance. At one time in the film, they both stand alone against a room full of people thinking against them, but how they act to it makes them who they are. Unlike how Juror 8 sways others individually, Juror 3 refused to act politely and focuses on himself, making others not appreciate him and seeing him as a barrier to
Courage is the ability to overcome fear physically and morally. While stranded in the mountains, one of the biggest things the survivors felt was fear. When that plane crashed in the middle of the mountains, nobody knew where they were and what could happen. The biggest fear present was fear of the unknown. Instead of being pushed down by the fear, the survivors were courageous and overcame one obstacle at a time. They started with what they knew and built a system from there because they had the courage to make life possible. I’ve experienced fear many times in my life and every time, I am forced to dig deep to find the courage to overcome. Before my first mountain bike race I was filled with fear. It was on the hardest trail on the mountain and I was completely unfamiliar with the terrain. I was going up against riders who had six times as much experience as I did. I had to dig deep to find the courage to get on my bike and race instead of taking the easy way out and disqualifying
Courage is a state of mind that enables a person to overcome fear, pain, danger, or hardship. Although different from one another, all aspects of courage involve taking risks.
What does courage show? Courage shows that people in this world are selfless, brave and heroic. People put themselves before others and keep people safe. People do it everyday, whenever a firefighter steps into a burning house they put themselves in danger. If you think courage is pathetic, let me see what you can do. Can you get cut by a machete and keep fighting? Can you step into a fire and save people? Can you stand in front of people shooting just for your country? People all around the world is helping others, be kind, be nice and always know people are there to help. Courage shows a lot of
