Abortion by definition is a medical procedure used to end a pregnancy and cause the death of the fetus. This act of killing the fetus has been legal in the United States since the supreme court case Roe V. Wade in 1973. While this may be a touchy subject, it is an issue that needs to be addressed immediately. It is a social injustice that has killed millions of babies since the legalization of abortion, but by making it illegal and educating the public, the number of abortions would reduce and the lives of so many innocent babies would be saved.
The argument that is most widely used to determine the morality of abortion is when does life start? It is disputed that life does not begin at conception, rather the newly fertilized egg is just a clump of cells, but “The American College of Pediatricians concurs with the body of scientific evidence that human life begins at conception – fertilization…” (When Does Life Begin). Abortion is ending the lives of innocent unborn babies before they even have a chance to live. Many Americans are unaware that life begins at conception and the scientific evidence to prove this. Seeing videos and learning more information on what happens to the fetus, it is harder to see it as acceptable. Many come to view the abortions as inhumane, and hard to watch. It also changes many people’s opinions on abortion after they have seen them. A social project video was taken and random people from off the streets were asked about their views on abortion and showed an instructional video on how the abortion procedure is done. After watching the video, those who claimed to be pro-choice either hesitated to say it is still the women’s choice or flipped their view
