“You must not lose faith in humanity. Humanity is an open ocean; If a few drops in the ocean are dirty, the ocean does not become dirty.” On January 30, 1948, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated by Nathuram Vinayak Godse. Gandhi died by a bullet wound. This took place in New Delhi. Gandhi is most known for freeing India and being a great leader in the world. The assassination of Gandhi was unjust because Gandhi was a strong leader and fought for India’s freedom, however some believe Gandhi was a hypocrite because he served in a war as a british army soldier. Gandhi was a very motivational man. Gandhi was a strong and an inspiring leader to people all over the world. For example “Gandhi was a good man in a world where few resist the corroding influence of power, wealth and vanity”(Matsuda 1). This proves that Gandhi was a good person and therefore, his assassination was unjust. Not only was Gandhi a good person in general, he was an active person and made sure that everyone was equal. For instance, “As he sought to free India from British colonialism, his methods--civil disobedience, passive resistance and nonviolence--proved so powerful that they were later adopted by such revolutionaries as the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Nelson Mandela and Cesar Chavez”(Matsuda 1).
