12 Angry Men (1957) is a very minimalistic movie in which 12 beautifully written characters are the jury to a murder court case. The entire movie is shot in one room with 12 actors discussing about a murder case as the life of a young man who is charged with crime of killing his own father yet is so emotionally gripping and interesting. This movie completely revolves around the idea about the judgement of these so called jury which discuss about an open and shut case but things start to change as one man disagrees and votes “Not Guilty” without any certainty as he wants to just ponder deep into the case right before deciding the end of a boy’s life.
Here not only the story is important but also the direction and the camera work where initial scenes of the movie have wider fields and as the movie progresses and intensifies the background becomes narrower depicting the increase in tension of the movie. And also the use of dramatic angles in the movie by Boris Kaufman also add up to the accurate representation of “suspense” which adds up to the glory of this movie. …show more content…
