As of 2014 the United States had a statistic of motor vehicles per 1000 people was 797. In today’s society, a vehicle is essential to have. Understanding a vehicle is a major investment, in the future it will eventually pay for itself. So, is the ownership of a vehicle good or bad? In my opinion, owning a vehicle is extremely important, and almost a must have.
In the first place, a reason vehicle ownership is good is because you have your own access to transportation. Transportation has become a necessity in today’s time. Motorists age 16 and older drive, on average, 29.2 miles per day or 10,658 per year. Anyone who has ownership of a vehicle, has the freedom to go each day as they please. Knowing you don’t have to rely on someone else for your means of transportation. Families that don’t own a vehicle are few and far between. 90.7% of the nation’s households own approximately one car. Owning a vehicle keeps one from having to have the worry of catching a bus or train, which could be inconvenient at times. In many places, the access to transportation other than your own vehicle may not be available. So for many, having the assurance of knowing you can get place to place is much appreciated.
In the last place, owning a vehicle provides safety in several different ways. One way being, medical emergencies. If you have a sudden emergency you will be able to get to the nearest helpful place because of your access to your vehicle. Another is having the safety from natural causes such as bad weather. When there is a weather emergency you will be able to get to a safe in no time. Without the ownership of a vehicle, these type of emergencies could have different turnouts.
