When We Collided written by Emery Lord is a enthralling, emotional, and at times tear-jerking book. I can say it is honestly not like any other book I have ever read. I read realistic fiction, but have never read a book that could be more true to society today than this one. The title When We Collided stood out to me, because it was different than any romance book that is available. Collide is a very strong word in, with a negative connotation, it spiked my curiosity. Not only did the title catch my attention, but also the cover. I was automatically drawn to the colors. The quote “Can you find yourself when you’re falling apart” is what really got me to read this book. It was a decision I did not regret making. This book takes place in Verona Cove, California. Vivi meets a boy named Jonah who is fighting his own battles at home. This book really shows what it can be like dealing with different things in life, but still do an every day routine. The quote on the front is what drew me to this book in the first place, and I will say I was not disappointed with the message that came with it. Vivi is determined to live her life to the fullest by doing out of the ordinary things. Which only starts to become an endangerment when she stops taking her medication all together. When We Collided shows something truly beautiful by showing that yes you can love someone when your life is a mess, but still portraying the question if it's really alright too. Some of Vivi’s decisions were rash and resulted in her getting severly injured. She had Jonah with her. In the hospital she realized she could have hurt him as well. She decided on her own to leave Verona Cove at once to spare Jonah from ever getting hurt due to
