Systematic Theology: My journey to discover Jesus.
Who do you say that I am?
The center and beginning of my journey comes from my own experience, since the moment I was thought, in my family, encountering Jesus in my daily life, thus even though I tried to compartmentalize this reflection by starting from fundamental theology and follow a rational order according to my own studies, I just couldn’t because all my thoughts and experiences start with my encounter with Jesus, the historical Jesus and the Jesus of faith. So my start is a Christological one and from there, everything has meaning for me.

Mom got the right idea teaching us about Jesus from Scriptures as a major source of providing the theological language and concepts. She also used the world around us: our devotions, our images and traditions. The traditions (with small “t”) take us to live out or Tradition, the ongoing self-transmission of the word of God in the Holy Spirit through the service of the Church for the salvation. Little by little I started to know who Jesus was for me and my community. What he did and why he did it, at least from my mother’s perspective and experience. Christ then is the primary source of my knowledge of God. It is from His life, death and resurrection that I started having access into the mystery of God. Those stories that I heard from mom were, in fact, the revelation of God in my mode of understanding and my own experiences. Throughout all texts discussed, there is a pervasive and unmistakable sense of journey in its unmeasurable and intangible form. The journeys undertaken, are not physically transformative ones but are journeys which usher in an emotional and spiritual alteration. They are all life changing anomaly’s that alter the course and outlook each individual has on their life. Indeed, through the exploitation of knowledge in both a positive and negative context, the canvassed texts accommodate the notion that journeys bear the greatest magnitude when they change your life in some fashion.

There are several aspects to consider when exploring the Christian worldview. There are many facets or denominations and they each have their own distinct beliefs and practices, but they all share the same fundamental beliefs. In this Paper we will explore the character of God, His creation, humanity and its nature, Jesus’ significance to the world, and the restoration of humanity, as well as my beliefs and the way that I interact with Christianity and my personal worldview.
There are many aspects of the Christian worldview that determines one’s faith. It all begins with God and what he did and why he so great. Then how humanity was shape with its issues and main purpose. The way we see Jesus and what has he done to be apart of are faith and what as humans have found for a restoration. Through analysis the Christian faith and how each of these tie in together. While reflecting on my faith and if lives to the standards of a Christian worldview. Through explaining my understanding of the four aspects of a Christian worldview I will analysis and compare it to my faith.
Christian, the main character in Pilgrim’s Progress, started his journey as every real Christian should: considering Christ greater than anything he had. He left his family and friends, all of whom rejected him, in order to start following God. He knew that his relationship with God came first place and he acted on it. His actions demonstrated his faith. His actions proved that his faith was real. His family and friends not only represented the human relationships that a Christian must leave when he becomes a Christian, but also every other worldly thing that is important to a Christian.
Starting back at the very beginning of this process is the most dangerous aspect of this entire process we follow to gain a worldview. In today’s society there is a variety of versions of “God.” Depending on which God you believe in, your community and culture could be very far fetched from what the truth is. The overlying theme behind every formation that coincides with any worldview can be asked in one question. What is the purpose of my life? As Christians, we should be involved in society’s version of “popular culture.” We are called in the Bible to be the salt of the world, as the salt we shouldn’t be merely consuming the culture in which we live in, we should be part of it, adding everything we can.
My family taught me about Jesus at a young age, so I always knew I wanted to have a close relationship with him. Knowing that God is going to have my back no matter what was the best feeling to me. He will never leave a person or turn his back on them. The fact that the Bible guides people is one of the amazing things to me because one scripture can change a person whole life. My discourse community teaches a person about faith, love, and everything a person will ever need in life. Jesus encourages people, and supports people when they fail. Being a Christian motivates me and gives me a meaning of life. Being saved is easy, but the hard part is following his guidelines. He knows people are going to make a lot of mistakes in life, but the fact that he doesn’t judge them is amazing. For as long as I can remember, I have gone to church. My entire life I have known this concept of Jesus and who he was. And for some reason, that was supposed to be important to me. As a kid, I could tell you the majority of the Bible stories, after all, I heard them all the time. Even at a young age, though, I could tell there was more to the whole Jesus thing. It seemed that some people understood on a deeper level what all this church stuff was actually about. As I began to learn more about this Jesus, I began to question why he was important to me and what he had to do with the life change in the people around me.

In this first part of this paper I will be explaining my worldview. There are three influences I will focus on to give an in depth look at how I came to my worldview. The three influences are religion, family, and my career choice. I think the biggest part of my worldview comes from my religion so I will start with that. Studying the Bible is extremely important in understanding what a Christian believes and why they believe it. Gods speaks to his people all the time through many ways. He used to speak through prophets, but then God came down to earth as a man called Jesus Christ to speak directly to the people of the world. Jesus Christ is God’s right hand man and above even the angels in heaven. Jesus is part of the Trinity, prime reality in a Christian worldview, and he is the Savior of all mankind at the end of history. Jesus’ place and role in the lives of people as a speaker, teacher, and savior is discussed in Hebrews 1:1-2. God once spoke through prophets, but then He spoke through Jesus Christ, the sovereign ruler of the universe who died for the sins of all people and now sits at the right hand of God.
Ultimately, spiritual formation is a journey I will walk throughout my lifetime and it is one that I gladly am not alone in traveling. My end goal is union with God in His Kingdom, as I believe it is for all Christians. I intend on allowing His grace and love to flow freely through me and show in my heart as well as in my actions.

Over the past year and a half I have felt a tremendous calling placed upon my life to spend my time on Earth pouring everything I am into a Christ centered ministry. When I first arrived in Southern California, from Indiana, I thought I had my whole life figured out. It was my belief that God had already made it completely obvious how I would spend the rest of my life serving his kingdom. I could not have been further away from the truth. God has revealed so much truth and knowledge to me that I am still having trouble wrapping my head around. Through my classes here at Vanguard and the community that surrounds me I have seen and felt God move in amazing ways. However, through the book Jesus is____. written by my favorite pastor, Judah Smith, I have been opened up to new concepts and ideas that have been nothing short of mind blowing and full of Jesus’s truths. While writing this book, Pastor Judah asked himself the question time and time again, “Who is Jesus to me?” He also asks the reader at the beginning of the book, “Who is Jesus to you?” This book challenged me, made me smile, and convicted me. Judah’s love for Jesus is evident. His passion to make Him known is confirmed. The book traces different aspects of what the Bible says about Jesus and who
