The word “Christian in the university’s name means a group of people that believe in one God, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Accepting of any Christian denomination and teaches the word of God, as it is written in the bible. “So for a whole year Barnabas and Saul met with the church and taught great numbers of people. Identified as evangelical, meaning “relating to, or being in agreement with the Christian gospel, as it is presented in the four gospels.
Evangelicalism by its very nature is hard to define. In fact, Douglas Sweeney, Chair of the Church History and the History of Christian Thought Department at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School states, “precious little consensus exists among those who have tried to describe the evangelical movement.” Nevertheless, Sweeney does an excellent attempt by briefly explicating the diverse history of the evangelical movement in his book, The American Evangelical Story: A History of the Movement. Sweeney, a Lutheran and expert in American religion and culture not only introduces
Friedrich Nietzsche once said “The word 'Christianity' is already a misunderstanding - in reality there has been only one Christian and he died on the Cross.” That leaves the unanswered question of what is a “true Christian.” Some may learn and adapt to everyday things because of what we are taught. Others may have to see it or witness it to believe it. Justin Martyr and Tertullian both took on the concept of truth within Christianity, believed that the Word of God was the only thing to be accepted; however their approaches were contrary to one another.
According to Merriam Webster Dictionary, a Christian is somebody who believes in the teachings of Jesus Christ. As spoken of in The Holy Bible, Christ was born 2000 years ago of a virgin mother. In his ministry, he taught that he was the foretold Messiah of the Old Testament. While on the earth, he performed the Atonement, enabling all people to overcome their sins. For his teachings, he was crucified, but was resurrected on the third day. Christ is the basis of many churches, including the Mormon Church.

Pepperdine’s mission statement contains many values I personally hold myself. I was raised in a Christian household and have been taught the same principles Pepperdine teaches its students all my life. My uncle is pastor and has built his own church in Texas. My entire family believes in upholding and spreading Christian values in everything we do. I was baptized by my uncle and believe that a family that is strong and bonded through the word of God can provide so much good to others around them. I believe I will bring the understanding of the Christian mission as well as other diverse characteristics to Pepperdine. I strive to surround myself with those who share my faith, and with those of different faiths in order to continually learn and

Christianity was founded in Palestine in c. 30 AD. Christianity was primarily lead by Jesus, Peter, and Paul. Its main languages were in Aramaic and Greek. There are approximately two billion adherents worldwide today making this religion the largest in the world. The major branches would include the Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant. Christians use the Bible, both New and Old Testaments. The inspiration of the text is viewed very different inspired human accounts, or of human origin only. Christians believe in that there is one creator, one God. But they believe that the nature of God is a Trinity or one substance but three persons. You also have other spiritual beings like the angels and demons. They viewed Jesus as the Son of God, God Incarnate, and or Savior of the world. He was conceived in a Virgin Birth. They believe Jesus was killed by death of crucifixion. And they affirmed that Jesus was resurrected and the second coming of Jesus. Any means of salvation they believe that with the correct believe, good deeds, a...
Christianity is the belief that the holy trinity which includes Jesus (the son), God (the father) and the Holy Spirit exists as a very real deep connection with an individual whom has received God as their lord and savior. Christians are kind, modest and sincere people who wish to spread the good word to create a testimony to change others’ lives by opening up their hearts and minds to live in peace and harmony. Since, the beginning of time there has been many born again believers whom accept God into their lives. This rules what they believe to be true, honest and a guideline to the success of their lives. “You are my witnesses, “says the Lord, “And my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me, and I am He. Before me there
It is impossible to ignore the presence of Christianity in the United States of America. For the Pledge of Allegiance, which proclaims “one nation under God,” to the small print on all currency that reads “in God we trust.” Often the term Christian nation is tossed around when debates over the next political step ensues. But can the United States really be considered a Christian country? While, the USA may have outgrown that particular title, it would be naïve to assume that Christianity has not influenced and continues to influence the political arena today. America has a long history of Christian involvement that continues to shape the minds of voters in the modern age, and in return, politics has likewise left its mark on the religion, often
Christianity is a religion based off of the teachings of Jesus Christ, known as the Son of God and “the Anointed One”. It teaches us that there is and continues to be but one divine God of our universe who died on the cross for our sins. We all, as human beings, live in a broken world where only he can save us. Through a combination of reading passages of the Bible, a collection of Christian scriptures, prayer, and worship one can reach salvation and live with him in the everlasting kingdom of heaven. Christianity is based on having a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, our savior.
...and it could be scholastically asked if it is, in fact, Christian. Jesus and his apostles taught scripture until around 100 CE when the last apostle died. After that, the faith grew and spread out to many lands. The Catholic Church came along in the 300s, the Orthodox Church broke away before 1100, and Protestants emerged in the 1300s; all expounding differences yet retaining similar basic doctrine. The Macmillan Dictionary Thesaurus explains “Christendom” as “all the Christian countries or all the Christian people in the world” (Christendom, 2013, n.p.). Thus, to define the principles of Christendom would depend on which country a person lives in; which branch of Christendom he/she belongs to; and whether he/she practiced those principles. There have been many personalities who have shaped religious thought until today, but not all Christian beliefs are the same.

These definitions suggest that a university is a place where various types of students such as graduates or non-graduates and also teachers who come together under one roof, almost being considered as ‘university of masters and students’. It can be clearly seen that it is difficult to rely upon traditional terminology for the definition of a university in the full sense of the world. Medieval universities generally consisted of a ‘community of scholars’ who had the authority to award students with degrees. Majority of these scholars were monks or priests because in 600-1500 A.D. there was a strict religious hierarchy to create stability within the society. The majority of the higher education took place in cathedrals or monastery schools.
