PART ONE
In the year 2023, the well-known company Apple funded a small medical research company that developed the worlds most revolutionary medical discovery. They called it Generational Change Technologies Gen-C-Tech for short. Altered the DNA in a human fetus. It "pruned the tree of life" by adding the desired traits that the parents wanted in their child into the empty spaces of our DNA. While most looked at this as a miracle of science some looked at it as a bad omen. by taking away your birthright of being who you were born to be. Instead of growing normally these children could grow stronger, smarter, and overall better than the average human.
Imagine you have a daughter and name her Lucy and you

to answer this question we need to look at the very things that make you-you. Human is usually just a term used to describe people. The human race. So what does it mean to be human? we have always had our ups and downs, fighting each other from time to time, treating each other disrespectfully or unequal. some say that these imperfections are what makes us human, so if you are perfect are you human? Humans have been born the same way since the dawn of time with the right to choose who you want to …show more content…
Humans have the power to decide what they are going to do in life and how they are going to it. if you already had a purpose in life and had no free will to decide what you want to do it would be like being a slave to yourself and those who made you.
If we fast forward a little farther into the future say 18 years to 2041 what would an almost perfect world look like? once most of the population is made up of Gen-C-Tech babies what would happen to those who are "normal". We would slow down the "better" part of the population. Further in the future in the year 2072, the last "normal" human dies. the entire population of the earth is now made up of Gen-C-Tech humans. In a perfect world where everyone is special is anyone special?
the year is now 2100 no one "human" is different than another. everyone is the same yet they are still special. In this world that once was a place of peace, war, love, hate, and overall diverse humanity is now a place of sameness and dullness.

Many are now considering using this technology to change humans, such as developing methods that could be used to regenerate or repair faulty organs. It could be also used to find a cure for diseases such as cancer, eventually (Fitzgerald), or to repair genetic defects. Parents could choose the sex and height of their offspring and be able to have more intelligent, more athletic, and better looking children. Also, genetic engineering could also be used to clone humans (Kevles 354), a topic of much discussion of late.
A human being is a homo sapiens of superior intelligence. Created by God in God’s own image to bring joy to his heart. Human beings are the only known
What would the world be like if we had perfect people? Is it right to manufacture perfect people starting in the mother’s womb? As with any debate, there are two opposing perspectives on the genetic engineering of children. The controversy about whether or not a fetus can or should be designed to be “perfect” brings up many ethical issues. In Michael Catalano’s scholarly article “The Prospect of Designer Babies: Is it Inevitable?”, his research and survey highlights and gives factual information about both sides of the argument. Catalano’s purpose is to inform readers on the future of designer babies. Through his research he discusses how people oppose the idea of the designer baby for ethical reasons yet support the
What does it mean to be human? Is it the millions of cells that you’re composed of? Or is it something more? In George Orwell’s book 1984, through the use of his protagonist, Orwell looks at what it really means to be human. In a world that is built on destruction and manipulation, Orwell takes a look at how a totalitarian government affects humankind and a person’s ability to stay “human”.
A good thing about it is that people would have a less likely chance of getting a disease cause when they are modifying the genes they can change the percentage of the child getting cancer . Scientists could increase peoples immunity to diseases Vincent is born without gene specialization after the race with his
The way in which this new technology will be used is by correcting genetic problems in embryos. Extensive DNA testing will soon be able to show awaiting parents an accurate view of their embryoís genes. This will allow any defects of the child to be seen. If the unborn child is perfectly healthy, no changes will be made. If a problem is spotted, the parents may turn to abortion or gene therapy. Gene therapy is the treatment of genetic diseases by introducing genetic material into the patientís genes. This new process of having children where the parents decide what type of child they will have is called genetic counseling. This process will be able to not only identify health issues, but also personality traits. This is another topic that raises an interesting controversy. It allows a baby to be designed to the specific desires of the parent. The presents the question of: who is to say what another person should be like? Instead of a person's individuality being created naturally it will be molded by science. Some might say that this amazing process would create some of the greatest humans that will lead mankind into the future. Others might say that genetic engineering would destroy what could be a great person by changing their personality, removing trying health situations that build character, or aborting a person before they are born.
What if the world can be free of all genetic diseases? What if a mother did not have to go through the pain of saying goodbye to her family because she is going to die from cancer? What if a daughter could avoid getting bullied because she had Autism? What if a friend did not have to go through the heartache of wanting a child but knowing she could not without passing on a genetic disease? What if the struggles could end? Would it not be a better life? One must think it sounds like a dream that cannot be reached. However, that dream can be a reality right now. The solution is in the human genes. Modifying the human genome can create a future full of humans that are genetically disease free, in other words, creating designer babies. Performing such an operation is a good thing and should be made officially legal everywhere in the United States.
Every human being at one point or another ask themselves who they are. Some spend their whole lives trying to find an answer. Does asking such questions signify our humanity? And what does it mean to be human anyway? I used to think that a human being was someone who was born, had a mother and a father, and could make decisions for themselves about their life. This became invalid when I realized that newborn babies can’t make decisions about their lives until they are about two or three years old. My very simple perception would become even more complicated as I began exploring the moral issues of abortion and euthanasia.
One of the most frequently asked questions that the world has been asking for years has been “What does it mean to be human?”. Though it sounds like a fairly simple question, it seems that when asked this question, people tend to refer to it as a very hard question to answer because it depends on the opinions of others. It is said that the most common answer is that “...being human means knowing when and where we came from, knowing how humans are different from each other, and how humans are the same.
Answering the question of what humanity is may be the most difficult thing to do, as it is such a complex, ambiguous, and multifaceted concept. Many have tried to put a finger on what exactly makes them what they are, and the result of this is culture, stories, and myths. The overreaching conclusion in many of these myths is that man lies somewhere above beast and below gods. While this could be viewed in very simple and general terms as correct, it leaves out the fact that man often behaves very much like a beast, or like a god, while simultaneously embodying characteristics that are so alien to both of those beings. Something so intricately inherent to what makes humans what they are is the fact that in
If these things make us human, what would be the contrast. The loss of emotion? The loss of complex thought that invigorates the mind? Or perhaps, the fact that the race as a whole can change the world we inhabit, and yet continue to ignore the issues facing us time and time again.
What does it mean to be human? Sure, one must have the usual physical features such as fingers, eyes, arms, hands, feet, etc., but what does it really mean? Must the human be able to speak? To take upon the actions of themselves? Whatever it means, it can be interpreted in any way from anyone. The physical attributes of any human can be compared to those of our evolutionary ancestors. However, it is possible to believe that there are many characteristics that make a human, but only six define the true, ideal human.
The opportunity to decide which genes will be passed on to future generations certainly would be tempting for many people. A method by which we could prevent genetic diseases and customize our offspring’s gender, physical traits and the intelligence is not as impossible as it may seem at first. The debate over the designer children revived recently with the discovery of the new technique allowing scientists to alter DNA.
Think of a world where there is no hunger, a world where cancer, multiple sclerosis, and other dreaded diseases no longer hinder human lives. Think of a world where people can choose exactly what their children will look like and how athletic they will be. This may sound like science-fiction, but recent advances in scientific technology may be able to end world hunger and cure children of genetic disorders, before they are even born, and all of this is possible with the beneficial processes of genetic engineering.
What is being human are we supposed to somehow be perfect without flaws or can we be a little imperfect? Are we humans not permitted to show weakness, do we need to act more like machines with no flaws in them? Christina Perri’s song “Human” from her Head or Heart album, refers to being able to admit your defaults and allows you to accept them without changing yourself. The song “Human” by Christina Perri uses repetition, connotation, symbolism and metaphor to reveal show that we’re human that have faults, furthermore we cannot be expected to always be 100 percent perfect without faults and we should not change for anyone.
