With the amount of knowledge in the world, one will never truly have learned all that there is to know. Learning starts from the moment of birth and ends with the last breath of life. For many people, learning takes place through classes in school. Yet, school is only one of many places in which one can acquire knowledge or skills. Through areas of cross country, Leo Club, and Mun Lun, I have acquired a variety of knowledge and skills. Despite my short time doing cross country, I have learned two important skills: how to maintain my endurance and perseverance. The goal of all participants of the sport of cross country is to become faster. But, speed like everything else gradually improves over time. In order to increase your speed, you must not only keep on running, but also strengthen your leg muscles: mainly quads and hamstring. Every time during practice, I would run at least one mile. When I have free time, I would go to the gym, doing squats and leg press in order to strengthen my leg muscles. This increased my endurance and tolerance, …show more content…

But through a variety of community service projects, I learned to better communicate with others in order to complete the task at hand. Working at the concession stand at Stan Sheriff Center was one community service project that helped improve my communication skill. There are many positions when working at the concession stands. The position of runner was the most beneficial. As a runner, I would have to stand by an assigned cashier, listen to the customer’s order, and bring the food to the customer (usually I would have to speak through a restaurant kitchen window). The hardest part was telling the kitchen staff what the customer wanted. I would often have to speak loudly, especially during half time in order for the kitchen staff to hear my order. This was uncomfortable for me at first, but as I gained more experience, it became an easier
