My top five strengths from StrengthsQuest are connectedness, developer, consistency, relater, and restorative. At first glance, I thought I had answered the questions wrong. This list did not seem to be my strengths. After reading the descriptions of each strength, I realized that all of these strengths reoccur throughout my life. The first strength of mine was connectedness. Connectedness means I believe that everything happens for a reason and that the universe is connected in some way. I believe that we are all children of God. I am not competitive when I play games it is for enjoyment not winning. I believe that relationships need to be on a solid foundation before building on them. I have used this strength many times in my life. One …show more content…
Recently, one of my friends called me after she had made a morally wrong decision. When she told me what was on her heart and the situation that was at hand, I prayed instantly. Then after that I began to remind her of her self-worth. I told her of my past situations that was similar. I reminded my friend that no matter what she did that God still loves her and all she needs to do is seek forgiveness and repent. In that moment, I felt the Holy Spirit take over and assist me with my strength. After the call, my friend texted me and informed me how much better she felt about life and herself in general. Another time in my life I used my developer strength was when I was president of my high school FCCLA chapter. During my term I had Core officers, officers, and members to be a leader for. Which was around forty to fifty people. I had to assign tasks to each individual. I had to use my developer strength to find who was good at what. Our chapter was very successful because I placed tasks with the best suited person in the group. I use this strength the most academically because my friends often come to me when they do not have the motivation to do their homework. When this happens I remind them of their strengths and how to tackle the issue using their …show more content…
I believe one of my calling is to be a counselor specifically for families of drug addicts and alcoholics. My strengths of relator, restorative, consistency, and developer would be used towards this calling. My strength relator would easily fit into my counseling calling because I could instruct the families on how to cope and live a normal life. My restorative strength would be used after the families share their story and need advice. I would be able to use my strength to move the families into the right direction. Consistency is very valuable with counseling because the families would have someone who is able to listen on a steady basis. This is important because this creates a firm foundation that the families could build on. The developer strength would help me achieve my call because I would listen to what the families needed before I would lead them in a better direction. I would also be able to use my other strength of connectedness through my explanation that everything happens for a reason and sharing the
Strengths Finder 2.0 uses an online assessment to evaluate the individuals unique talents by having the taker rate how they view a particular question in 20 seconds or less (Rath, 2007). After taking the assessment, my five strengths were determined to be achiever, maximizer, input, arranger, and relator (Gallup StrengthsFinder, 2012).
I feel like this is an accurate assessment of my personality and I think this is a characteristic that will be beneficial to me when I am in the counseling profession. This is a characteristic that I relate to counselors and advocating for clients. Empathy was listed as my second strength. Empathy means being able to sense or feel other’s feelings and being able to imagine yourself in another person’s situation. I know that this will be beneficial for me as a counselor because empathy is one of the most crucial characteristics for the therapeutic relationship. Input is my third strength. This means that I am inquisitive, naturally curious, and seek information about many things. I think this is helpful for me as a counselor because we are expected to be life-long learners and actively continue our education. Connectedness was my fourth strength and it means that people who have this strength believe that all people are connected and that we are responsible for others. It also
These strengths and weaknesses were mainly discovered through the papers that we have written. I have many strengths when I’m writing papers and at the same time, I have many weaknesses. In my papers, I have noticed that one of my biggest strengths is how articulate I am. The papers that have been written by myself show that I structured sentences to present ideas in different ways. It is not straightforward and boring when ideas are presented. I like to keep the reader hooked on my paper. In order to keep up with this strength, I like to read articles. The articles I read are typically the ones that present new ideas or start arguments. This is one of my strengths that I am very proud
Some strengths that stand out the most in my personal life are, how I love to serve and give freely to benefit others, whether it is donating money or paying close attention to events that happen to surprise my friends with little gifts, I enjoy brightening someone's day. I am known as
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but
My top strength is Individualization. To me, this strength means the ability to figure people out and understand the true uniqueness of others. With this strength, I am able to make things run smoothly and, at the same time, able to involve everyone in a group. The next strength I have is strategic, which enables me to find alternative ways to deal with problems. Therefore, I am also able to make things run smoothly and according to plan. In addition to these two strengths, my third strength is competitive which measures how successful I am compared against others. This is great because it helps me to endure and work hard in order to make it to the top. My fourth strength is restorative which is a talent that helps me to deal with any problems that may arise and ensure that things continue going according to plan. This strength means that I can endure and overcome any adversity that comes my way. My last strength is achiever. This is a strength that helps me to work hard and always be productive. Being an achiever maintains my ability to always keep going and to constantly feel the need to be productive.
One strength I saw myself, as having when I enter college is being able to understand and critical think about a essay/article that I have read. However, after taking English 101, I have now learned that this is a strength of mine as well as a weakness.
Another strength that I have is being an active listener. I listened to my clients and utilized a lot of micro skills. Insuring confidentiality was also a strength that I developed closer to the end of field placement. Conducting assessments and making sure I tracked and exhausted the topics was also a strength that I identified throughout field. Practicing from a strengths perspective was also another area I excelled at when working with my clients. A skill that I could work on is being more conscious of self in terms of body language during interviews, because at times I find myself with my arms cross which may give an indication that I’m closed off or
Through taking the assessment I learned that my top 3 strengths are social, language, and self. (Literacynet, 2016) My strongest strength was knowledge of self, scoring a 4.43. (Literacynet, 2016) People who have this strength enjoy alone time to think things through. They also like working on projects by themselves, learning through “trial and error”. My second strongest strength was language, scoring a 4.14, (Literacynet, 2016) this is basically saying people with this strength have a love for words, seeing them in books, writing and talking, even story telling. My last of my three strengths was social, scoring a 4.13, (Literacynet, 2016) meaning people with this skill like to talk and have good “social” skills, and like talking to and learning from others.
My first strengths to communication are (responsibility for communication) the meaning of responsibility for communication means when someone knows how the person is feeling, and when someone sees them self in their shoes of any person they are talking with. For example, a woman starts to talk to the men about her having problems about her job. Once the woman talks to the mean about the situation the man starts to feel what the women is feeling and understands being in the same situation she is in. in this kind of situations ,I’m understandable when someone is going through the worst time and other times I can relate to these people I talk to. When I communicated when people are going through a rough time I communicate with them by giving asking them the question about something good that has to happen to them. My last strengths are (Flexible). The meaning of Flexible in a conversation is when the person has a good way to talk and thinking about what they are going to say before they talk. For example, a kid can ask the teacher a question, but the teacher seems to be busy. So a way the teacher would be Flexible is for the kid, is by thinking about what she is going to say, to organize her thoughts before she communicates. When it comes to a situation where someone talks to me, and I’m busy, or mad what I do is think before what I’m going to say before saying something I will
To begin, I will start off with my strengths, which is listening and responding. Listening can be a very difficult thing have strength in. That is because most of the time, listening isn’t automatic, and additionally most of the time someone can be just hearing something instead of actually listening. I feel that, although it is difficult to do, I am a pretty adequate listener. I know how to listen and respond to situations that I come across. I am great at eye contact, answering questions, and having the appropriate facial
As I stated earlier, loyalty is one of my top values, and I believe that if I am a loyal leader many people will trust me and develop their leadership attributes. Along with loyalty comes relationships. To me, the two go hand in hand. It is nearly impossible to have a healthy relationship when someone is not being loyal. I believe my greatest opportunity to be loyal and successful is to utilize my leadership ability to fulfill my potential. I plan to use the strengths I discovered from StrengthsFinder 2.0 to navigate my values down whichever path I decide to choose for the remainder of my college career, and any post-graduation occupation. I believe that my top strength, harmony, will continue to affect the way I make relationships. Harmony has been an extremely large part of my life and I intend to rely on it throughout my life. I know that my second strength, adaptability, will give me the tools to encounter anything that life throws at me. I understand that things are not always going to go the way you intend. Having the ability to adjust my thought processes is just one way adaptability will make a difference in my life. I believe that my third strength, WOO, will help me to build relationships and expand my network no matter how old I am. Being able to relate and connect with others is something I strive to do in my daily life. My fourth strength, communication, goes hand in hand with WOO.
My flexibility is certainly one of my greatest strengths. I can easily move between different working styles, depending on the scenario. I have no problem trying a new idea or concept out before deciding on a final direction. I am continually exploring different options. Being a “people-person” is one of my other strengths. My excellent interpersonal skills allow for me to bring ideas, thoughts and people together. I generate enthusiasm and excitement into tasks. I feel comfortable and confident talking to others about anything that I have knowledge of.
In reviewing my top strengths in the Survey of Character Strengths, there are four items that stand out for me and they are spirituality, hope, fairness and caution.
My first strength is kindness. Since I am mostly around children, kindness allows them to like me and be comfortable around me. The last strength is listening, I listen to all of my friends if they need someone to talk to. Listening allows me to be their support system. Even though I have different strengths, there are also some challenges. Some of these challenges are similar to the life of St. Francis and St. Clare. Some of my challenges are deciding whether I picked the right choice and ability to handle change. There are many events in my life where I wasn’t sure if I made the right decision or not. For example, I recently switched my major and I wasn’t sure if I made the right choice and if my parents would agree with it. This is similar to St. Francis’s life because he kept changing what he wanted to do with his life and wanted his parents approval. Francis was still his father’s son, unconsciously pursuing what his father valued reputation, status and wealth (Sweeney, 2014, p.34). Francis wanted to this in order to make his father proud but as time went on he knew what he wanted to do even though his parents might not agree to it. Francis always questioned himself in the decisions that he made frequently ( Egler, October 2015). Another challenge is the ability to handle change. I have a difficult time trying to accept change because I usually like the way things are. I don’t like change when I have no control over
