Want to go deep sea diving? Want to go to outer space? Want to travel the world? Anywhere anything is being built, welders are required- and that means just about anywhere you can imagine(Institute For Career Research). Welders build the bones of our society. The welding process creates a stronger jion than just bolts or rivets. What I will be talking about in this paper is explaining the nature of work, the working conditions, what training and education is needed. How much welders make and their benefits, and the security outlook or welders. Welding is very important. Welders weld things together using heat to make buildings, cars, and many more things. Welding is used to construct and repair parts of cars, airplanes, ships and sheet- …show more content…
Timing is very important in welding. Some pieces of metal will weaken if heated for too long. If a welder goes too fast and doesn’t melt in enough flux, the joint may be weak. The abilities that are needed to be a welder are being physically fit, hand-eye coordination, work well with your hands, being comfortable with heights and good vision (Career Cruising). Duties of a welder are study blueprints, sketches, or specifications. Calculate the dimensions of part to be welded, inspect structures or materials to be welded. Ignite torches or start power supplies. Monitor the welding process to avoid overheating and maintain equipment and machinery. Different options within the career, welder, cutter, solderers, and brazers. Welders work in a wide variety of industries. The type of weld is usually determined by the types of metals being joined …show more content…
Those places can be dirty and smokey. Some welders work at steel mills, railroads shops, and highway departments (Information Center). Welders can work outside like on high building or scaffolds. Others work in dark mines and shops, or factories. Welding is not a job for someone who is afraid of heights or small spaces. In some areas of the country, it can get too cold in the winter for construction. The amount of work available for welders can vary by the seasons. Welders often wear protective clothing, goggles, helmets with protective lenses, and other safety equipment to prevent burns and eye
Welding is a dangerous job because you can hurt your eyes from the flash if you don’t wear eye protection. Yes pipeline welding dangerous, but it is wrong because it is only dangerous when proper safety precautions aren’t taking place. Welding is dangerous because pieces of metal can fall on you and you can get flash burn. And you can be exposed to gases, fires, explosions, and electric shock. But the only way these things happen is when safety measures are ignored.
Being a welder was never in my mind for a career, but that changed when I started taking welding classes at the Dickinson-Iron Intermediate School District. I've been welding for two years and am now enrolled at Bay West Community College for their Early College Program for welding. After I complete the one year program with Bay I will be moving forward with my education. I will be deciding between Ferris State University for Welding Engineering, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College for Machine Tool CNC Technician, or The Advanced Welding Institute. After I complete the rest of my schooling I will also be moving forward to become a Weld Inspector. I do not want to be just a welder I want to be higher up and have a better education, so that
As a Certified Welder, I will be able to combine my hardworking drive with my personal interest in metal working to be a successful welder. This paper will explore the job description, requirements, and salary expectation for a Certified Welder. First, the job description for a Certified Welder includes many components. To begin with, The Occupational Handbook shares, that welders often
Welding is a excellent career choice for those who like to build things with their hands and have a strong attention to detail. It requires an extensive amount of knowledge and skill but for those who get a solid grasp of the respected trade they're rewarded with tremendous job opportunities and first-rate pay.
scientific experiments (Go welding: history of welding 1). Conventional welding is most easily explained as arc welding processes. Some arc welding processes are TIG welding, Stick Welding(SMAW), and MIG welding. TIG stands for Tungsten Inert Gas welding this means that using tungsten as a electrode and an inert gas, which is usually argon, the weld is produced by creating an arc between the piece being welded and the tungsten electrode. SMAW or stick welding utilizes a stick electrode held in a clamp surrounded by a powdered substance to weld. Mig welding uses a machine that holds a wire feeder within it, the wire feeder feeds the wire electrode through a tube to a gun that slowly sends out the wire as well as a steady flow of inert gas. These and other processes classified as conventional welding processes are the best processes for welding jobs because they are more cost effective, more...
Welding is one of the fastest growing careers at this time. This would allow me to find a job in the field very rapidly. ”As America’s welding industry grows, professionally trained welders are in demand more than ever”. This would help me stand on my own two feet quicker, support myself and not struggle to get through a normal day with the demand at an all-time high. ” The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the need for welders is expected to grow by 26 percent by 2020.” As this time it currently looks like the job demand will just keep going up which will make it less stressful for me to find a job, and provide a multiple amount of career options.
Now it is feasible to weld, starting from thin metal sheets of fraction of mm to very thick plates of virtually any thickness. The quality of welding is not restricted only to work done by the welder but depends on many other factors, viz. welding technique and its parameters, welding equipment, shielding medium, working environment, etc. The heat input rate is one of the most important variables in fusion welding, since it governs heating rates, cooling rates and weld pool size. In the welding of steel, this is important relationship since increased cooling rates increase the risk of hydrogen-induced cracking.
To begin with a welder uses equipment to apply heat to metal in order to create a permanent bond. In doing so, they weld metal parts, fill holes, and can even repair cracks in a brace. Because of its heavy duty strength, welds can be used to repair cars, ships, and even airplanes. Also, welds are used in the construction of buildings and bridges. Various tools are needed to perform proper welding techniques, for example, a person may need clamps, welding rods, a chipping hammer, a torch, glasses, a welding helmet, an apron or non flammable clothing to properly weld metal. In addition, a person may also need a specific type of welder for a certain occasions. For example if a person wants to weld aluminum a mig welder would be used along with argon and helium gases. Safety is always important for the welder. Welders are exposed to a variety of environments and situations that put their safety in jeopardy. They are at risk for cuts, bites, stings, and burns since they work outdoors. They are also exposed to gases, dust, fumes, and foul odors due to working in poorly ventilated areas. It is ev...
There is some basic equipment that is needed while welding. First and foremost, a welding mask is needed to protect the eyes from the extremely bright light created by the arc. UV light can also come from arcs, so eye protection is needed for this as well. Another necessary piece of safety equipment is gloves. A thick protective specially designed welding glove is used for the hand that is holding the torch, and a thinner glove is optional for the hand that isn’t on the torch as well. Heavy cotton clothing, especially long sleeves and jeans, is necessary as well. The long sleeves and pants will protect the skin from the extremely hot spatter than can fly off everywhere when welding. Leather is preferred if doing a lot of welding at one time.
Welding is a very important tool used in our daily lives. Welding is the process of joining two metal pieces together by applying heat. A filler helps to make the joint. Everything we use from trucks to houses have some type of welding in them. There are many types of welding careers to choose from. There is a great demand for welders today. My project was to build a table and candelabra out of metal. Most of the metal I gathered came from junk yards and had to be cleaned of rust.

Electrician work outside and inside during construction site, in businesses, factories or in homes. Working as an electrician mean bending conduit, standing for long period of time, and lifting heavy objects. Electrician can also be injured by electrical shocks, falls, and cuts. That is why electrician have strict guidelines that must be followed. When working outdoor electrician have to deal with harsh weather depending on where they work at.
Welding is an art, science, and high paying career all in one. Welding is the most effective way to join two pieces of metal, it is the only way to join them so they act as one. Numerous things in our daily lives has been welded from coffeepots to skyscrapers. Welding can be done almost anywhere outdoors, indoors, underwater, and even space (“Welding Basics”). It is practically
Jonathan Atteberry claims, “T.I.G welding is difficult to learn and requires an elaborate welding rig of skills. It also uses a lot of electricity to make the welds clean and spatter less” (Parag 5).
