A Welding Career Could Be A Good Fit I have researched welding as a career and the time it requires to receive your certification is less than a four year college degree. The cost for the training is also significantly more affordable than a four year college degree and there is opportunity to earn an above average wage enabling you to live a comfortable lifestyle . Welding looks like a good starting point for me. Even though I’m still not exactly sure what career I want to do, welding is something I enjoy, and I can see myself doing this to support myself. The time required to become a certified welder is approximately a third of the amount of time it takes to earn a Bachelor’s Degree. Some of the jobs you can do in welding can have harsh conditions but the work can be fun like pipeline welding.( Pipeline welders perform their job in a variety of work environments. With a few exceptions, pipeline welding is an outdoor activity. Pipes have to be repaired regardless of the weather, so this means working conditions can vary from sunny and pleasant to cold and snowy, depending on location and season.) This would be a good fit for me because I think I could handle the job and the different weather conditions would make it a fun experience. An Army support welder could also be fun .( Army welders spend their time in fabrication and repair shops or rushing out into the field for quick maintenance jobs.) Welding is one of the fastest growing careers at this time. This would allow me to find a job in the field very rapidly. ”As America’s welding industry grows, professionally trained welders are in demand more than ever”. This would help me stand on my own two feet quicker, support myself and not struggle to get through a normal day with the demand at an all-time high. ” The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that the need for welders is expected to grow by 26 percent by 2020.” As this time it currently looks like the job demand will just keep going up which will make it less stressful for me to find a job, and provide a multiple amount of career options. If I do choose to be a welder, several welding positions do not provide good benefits. I will need to make sure that I can afford healthcare, but also invest and save money to have for retirement. Welding could be a lifelong skill or hobby for me. I could use my abilities to work on my own personal projects at home like rebuilding cars, or I could use them to create or build parts.
