Now that we are living in an ever changing world, technology is viewed as the most resourceful tool in keeping up with the pace. Without the use of technology, communication would be limited to using mail for delivery and encyclopedias for research. Although technology has improved the way we communicate and find information for research, the information is not always valid. Unfortunately, for those of us who use the internet for shopping, research, or reading articles of personal interest the information is not treated the same as a your magazine or book. While such literature is reviewed by an editorial staff, internet literature or information can be published by anyone. In order to reap the full benefit of having the use of technology for any purpose, there are five basic criteria’s one must keep in mind as an evaluating tool for deciding whether or not the particular website is a reliable source for information. Website Evaluation The first criterion that needs to be met for doing research or using the internet is authority. you should cite these The author of the web page and their qualifications should be clearly identified. This will include the author’s information that will allow the reader to decide if this person is qualified and is a reliable source to use for research. The next criterion is accuracy of the webpage. This will include contact information such as an e-mail link and domain. The third criterion is objectivity. The website should have clearly stated goals for providing the information. These goals should not be objective and not bias. The fourth criterion is currency. The process of providing data on the leadership webpage is a valuable tool since educational material is data-driven and it shows that the organization is using current information. This is most important for educators since they are in need of receiving training in order to facilitate on going professional development as needed. Conclusion good In conclusion, while selecting articles to use for this research, these particular articles proved to be very useful.
