In society, there is a distinct caste of individuals known as warriors. These warriors must adhere to a strict code, of which made the warriors to be the strongest of society, putting themselves on the frontline for their fellow men. These warriors have a rule in their cultural doctrine, which is to never give up, no matter how inevitable the odds, you will not concede until you’re physically incapable of sustaining the confrontation. This specific piece of their code speaks to me on a spiritual level. I’ve followed this rule my entire life, I have yet to give up, and I never will. I don’t let things get to me like they used to. I don’t let them define me. I will make sure I am not the mirror of my past, I will shatter the reflection before it has a chance to spit awful images. I will not become my past, it will not consume me. With my will I shall “...break the cycle of failure in my family.” (Loretta Staples 17) I’m not like my parents, I won’t give up on my life. A warrior never gives up. The useless piles of human waste called my parents gave birth to an unstoppable warrior and I refuse with every fiber of my being to give up and become a failure like them. I refuse to throw away my life and hold the title, “scum of society” that my parents had branded upon their foreheads, acting like they had a reason to live, sucking the life out of everything around them. But how will I do it? How will I never give up even after all this constant struggling and the inevitability of future conflict? It’s all about the iron will; the warrior’s heart. You must believe that you are stronger than what you’re facing. If I put my mind to it, I can do anything.
