It goes without saying that “to whom much is given, much will be required”. It’s difficult to celebrate bravery and greatness of any man for acting courageous in selective situations. Courage and bravery should be applied to every level of humanity not just area’s that impact our livelihood or personal interest. I think the Walter Cronkite was brave in the pursuit of truth but not all truths. The interesting relating to the contrast of social media reporting of today versus reporting during the Cronkite era is the inconsistency. While mainstream reporting during the Cronkite era claimed to be of higher standards because they considered themselves to be similar to that of the printed newspaper. As my conclusion of understanding this journey through the history journalism by Kuyperts is that one thing history of newspapers tells us while the structure of the news may change, or the market for the news continues and a formation of highly intelligent journalist will strive to insists that the community receives the type of news that they want to read about.

“If you save one life it is as if you have saved the world” ( zmdhfgcsmjv ). Heroism is not defined by the number of people who know your name or the numbers of awards you have received. However, heroism is defined by the impact an individual or a group of individuals makes on other’s lives. The Bielski Brothers were three men who made it their mission to save Jewish men, women, and children during the Holocaust. Not only did they save lives on a daily basis, but they were able to stop Nazi efforts. The impact they have made is monumental; today tens of thousands are alive because they decided not to give up. Even though the brothers risked their lives on a daily basis, they did not view themselves as heroes.
In “Reporting the News” by George C. Edwards III, Martin P. Wattenberg, and Robert L. Lineberry, the main idea is how the media determines what to air, where to get said stories that will air, how the media presents the news, and the medias effect on the general public. “Reporting The News” is a very strong and detailed article. The authors’ purpose is to inform the readers of what goes on in the news media. This can be inferred by the authors’ tone. The authors’ overall tone is critical of the topics that are covered. The tone can be determined by the authors’ strong use of transitions, specific examples, and phrases or words that indicate analysis. To summarize, first, the authors’ indicate that the media chooses its stories that will air

In conclusion, true courage is shown in the story in many different ways by many different characters. There was not just one protagonist in this story who turns out to be a hero. In this story we had two plots. Each of the plots contained many heroic characters who not only did what they deemed morally just, but put their life behind what they believed in. Whether physically or mentally exerting themselves, almost every character, showed qualities like Martin Luther King Jr. They made bold statements in the community. They sent out messages that people would not forget. It is unfortunate that only now can we admire these type of people for what they did. Thankfully, they are remembered for their courage and that is what makes these characters world famous.

The introduction of the internet to modern society has brought about a new age of information relation. Since there is no longer a need to wait until the next print day, news from all over the world is available at a person’s fingertips within hours or even minutes of the event. With this advent of such easily accessible information, new problems for the news media have also arisen. Aside from potentially losing good economic standing because newspapers are no longer being purchased in the quantities they used to be, the credibility of the information itself is also put into question. No one would argue that credibility of news sources is unimportant, but there is a discrepancy in what takes precedence; economy and speed or getting the information out correctly at the first publishing by taking the time to make sure all facts are checked. The importance of having a system of checks on all information submitted is paramount. People trust what they read and believe it to be so without always questioning. If all information were to not be checked thoroughly, there would be instances where people read an article only for information included to be wrong and they go on believing such information. This can be very dangerous as misinformed people make misinformed decisions. With an increase in errors being made by citizen bloggers and even major publications, many are worried that journalistic ethics and credibility in the news media are being sacrificed in order to maintain swiftness in the news circuit and to retain personal profits. Though getting information to the masses quickly is a major part of the media’s importance, this should not mean that the credibility of that information being presented should be sacrificed for it...
All the soldiers that fought in World War II were very brave. All the soldiers knew that the war was going to come, but they were not sure when. Martin McLane was taken into war two days before his wife was due to have his baby. He said, “I was given special leave to go up and see her and I was the only one in the division that got to leave because she was dying.” The troops were prepared physically, armed with ammo, but where not prepared mentally for what they were going to see during war. The brutality of the war was worse than predicated. The death rate among soldiers and people was the thousands. During the war the soldiers were up against some of the most powerful countries in the world. It took courage and bravery to go on the front lines and start killing people. The war was all for freedom from other countries. Soldiers that fought in World War II should be remembered for their bravery, courage and dedication to their countries Armed Forces.
“Over 50% of people learn about breaking news on social media” (Social Networking ProCon.org 2015). One downside of the information on social media is more often then not, the information is invalid or skewed. Upon seeing a story, one should not automatically assume it is true; instead one should use the story as a starting point for further research.
