Man of Dreams and Magic “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them,” - (Walt Disney). In 1918, Walt enlisted in the American Red Cross and travelled to France by ambulance. the ambulance, of course, was covered from stern to stern with countless cartoons drawn from Disney himself. Having been fascinated by art since a very young age, Walt went on to become an animator after his return from France. He began producing animated shorts for local businesses in Kansas City which led to the creation of his failed project, The Alice Comedies; which featured a real girl stuck in a adventurous animated world. After arriving in the City of Dreams, Disney met up with his brother Ray O., and together they pulled together $750 and opened up their business in their uncle’s garage. After a string of successful featurettes, their expanded office, and Walt’s extraordinary amount of enthusiasm and faith that he headed right to the tippy top of Hollywood’s society. In 1928, Mickey Mouse was premiered at the Colony Theater in New York. Mickey’s first released cartoon was none other than the iconic Steamboat Willie, which revolutionized the industry with the first synchronized sound cartoon. Well Disneyland of course! Opened in 1955 the park was a prime example of Walt Disney and all of his magical creations. Filled to the brim with rides, games, characters and magical locales; millions of people visit his parks every year. Notice the word parks. Not only did the Disney Company create Disneyland but a sister location named Disney World. Both have become an iconic symbol of the company, with each new year more rides and locations emerge such as an Avatar World and a Star Wars World. Continuing the idea of Walt’s impact on the world it's safe to say that these parks are right at the heart of it. Construction began in summer of 1954, and right from the start Walt was in complete control. Being as meticulous as he was he completely planned out the whole park in stunning detail. He had a marvelous idea to split the park up into sections. The first section was Main Street, U.S.A. which is a call back to the days of yesteryear. Following Main Street there was Adventureland which was what Walt described as “a land that would make this dream reality, we pictured ourselves far from civilization, in the remote jungles of Asia and Africa.” Next was Frontierland which would bring back the pioneering spirit of our founders, there was also Fantasyland “What youngster. . .has not dreamed of flying with Peter Pan over moonlit London, or tumbling into Alice’s nonsensical
