In the Disney movie, Wall-E, the Earth is shown as a land filled with pollution and waste, with people who are lazy and useless. As Wall-E searches for unique objects, he comes across a single green seedling amidst the rubble. Disney depicts the future of our society as deteriorating, but also shows us the importance of a single plant. Obviously, we shouldn’t realize the importance of preserving plants when only a single plant exists; we need to preserve our environment now.

The Earth is being drained of its resources as I type. Whether construction companies are mowing down rainforests to make room for their new 5-star hotel or a child is plucking dandelions off the ground to make a flower crown, we are using Earth’s resources to our benefit. …show more content…

It taught me that I can make a change in this world by altering how I use these valuable resources. For example, whenever I eat a banana, the peel ends up in the trash can. From a human’s perspective, this is the only place it can go. We think that throwing away an object into the trash means that we are doing the right thing instead of littering. However, we just gave Mother Earth a problem that we could have easily solved. Instead, now I add it to my dad’s compost pile, which is used to fertilize our garden. This simple action of throwing the banana into the compost pile instead of the trash might not seem like a big deal, but if every single person discarded leftover banana peels, coffee grounds, leaves, and egg shells into the compost pile instead of the trash can, landfills would decrease in size, resulting in less pollution. Some people might not know what to do with these leftover scraps that they’ve collected, but there are many facilities that are willing to pick up compost for free. The fault in this is that people are not educated about these free services. If this was enforced in the education system, people would be more informed and more willing to participate in these
