The first classification of a paradox is a veridical paradox, which describes a situation that is ultimately, logically rue, but is either senseless or ridiculous. W.V Quine, famous for his classification paradoxes, stated: “I would not limit the word ‘paradox’ to cases where what is purportedly established is true. Contradictions are ideas or statements that oppose one another, such as paradox and irony. Paradox means that a statement contradicts itself, which may or may not be true; while irony is when you say one idea but mean another. For instance, The Declaration of Independence is one example which Americans show their contradictions. Thomas Jefferson wrote, “All men are created equal” at the same time Americans had slaves in their possession which evoked all African-Americans to obtain any natural rights as indicated in The Declaration of Independence (194). In this play, Iago influences Othello's perception of events through speeches and lies, making him doubt Desdemona's fidelity. Iago uses his talent of manipulating events to exact his revenge on Othello. Iago's twisting of events in Othello's mind leads to the downfall of Othello as planned, but because he fails to twist Emilia's perception as well, he facilitates his own eventual downfall.
Situational irony is when the viewers didn’t expect something to happen. An example of situational irony is when Sarah finally figures out that life isn’t fair. This is situational, because half the movie she’d been saying it’s not fair but later Sarah finally says “You're right it’s not fair...but that’s the way it is.” Another example of situational irony is when Hoggle gives Sarah the peach. We later find out it’s actually her dreams. When she discovers this, she decides to shatters them. Also a nurse who gets run over by an ambulance. All of things are situational irony. All of them have things in common that we would never expect in a real life situation.

Hamlet's fatal flaw is his inability to act. Unlike his father, Hamlet lets his intelligence rather than his heroism govern him. When he has a chance to kill Claudius, and take vengeance for his father's murder, he hesitates, reckoning that if he kills the man while he is at prayer, Claudius would have asked for pardon from the Lord and been forgiven of his sins, therefore allowing him to enter Heaven. Hamlet decides to wait for a better opening. His flaw of being hesitant in the end leads to his own death, and also the deaths of Gertrude, Ophelia, Laertes, and Claudius.
