Von Goethe's Faust: Bad Practices Of Business

Every day, thousands of businesses are being produced in the modern world; corporations, partnerships, entrepreneurship, etc. There has always been this powerful debate about whether or not certain practices of business are good/bad. If you look at the big picture, there are lots of good practices of businesses, along with some not-so-good practices; however the bad should not be so focused on, as if there really is “no such thing” as a bad practice of business.
As we look out for the different practices, we can analyze Von Goethe’s Faust. In Faust, Von Goethe summarizes the good practices of business, by saving money and enjoying what power and the days you have. These are examples of well-done practices because in order to run a successful company, you have to learn to budget and remembering what you are capable of and what you own. Another good practice mentioned in Faust is when Faust himself is talking to Mephistopheles, the devil, about his power. “An interesting viewpoint, I must say, to observe nature’s works the Devil’s way.” (Faust, 64) Faust is saying that having the power to accomplish a goal is always a necessity in owning a business and if it is not done properly, problems will arise. Von Goethe then goes to summarize the bad practices in Faust when Faust himself shows off his selfish side. “I want to rule and possess: what need have I of fame?
