Learning a new vocabulary word a week, will help you in the real world. The article Brainology by Carol S. Dweck explains about different mindset and how this impacts student. The two articles share information’s that will benefit us college students. Challenging our self and willing to learning will benefit us in the long run. Having a positive mindset and willing to push yourself you will succeed. Everyone use there vocabulary differently, some use it to express themselves. As Ken states “We use vocabulary to interpret and express ourselves.” He also explained that “prisoners may have even resorted to violence because it was their only effective way of expressing their feelings.” (Ken 1) Instead of anger and aggression, learn new vocabulary to express your feeling. As Carol said “Students stop working when school become challenging” “negative effect on student’s mindset, harming their motivation to learn.” (Carol 2) It’s very true because I feel like giving up when it gets harder in school. I lose focus and I’ll tell myself I don’t understand and lose interest. Some student who consider themselves to be fixed mindset tend to believe they are not up to task and will mistake. For student with growth mindset, they are willing to learn more and to challenge themselves. Carols states that student with different mindsets have different reactions to setbacks “Growth mindset reported that, after a setback in school, they would simply study more or student differently the next time. Fixed mindset was more likely to say that they would fell dumb, study less the next time, and seriously consider cheating.” (Carol 3) Even with different mindsets, we shouldn’t use stereotype and encourage with the same positive
