Victor Monologue Essay

Victor Frankenstein had a desire to obtain prohibited knowledge. After losing his mother his mind and emotions began telling him that he could control people’s fate in life. He grew up during a time where chemistry and electricity played a big role. Victor attended at the University of Ingolstadt in Germany. He studied biology, electricity, Galvanism, pseudo-genetic, engineering, and early genetics under M. Waldman. Victor believed he could use all these resources to create life himself. This is how Frankenstein's creature began to come alive.

After Victor had created the magnificent lifeless body of limbs, he suddenly realizes how hideous and sinister his creature really became, “I had desired it with an ardour that far exceeded moderation;

“All men hate the wretched; how, then, must I be hated, who am miserable beyond all living things! Yet you, my creator, detest and spurn me, thy creature, to whom thou art bound by ties only dissoluble by the annihilation of one of us. You purpose to kill me. How dare you sport thus with life? Do your duty towards me, and I will do mine towards you and the rest of mankind. If you will comply with my conditions, I will leave them and you at peace; but if you refuse, I will glut the maw of death, until it be satiated with the blood of your remaining friends”

Why did you form a monster so hideous that even you turned from me in disgust? God, in pity, made man beautiful and alluring, after his own image; but my form is a filthy type of yours, more horrid even from the very resemblance. Satan had his companions, fellow devils, to admire and encourage him, but I am solitary and abhorred” (94), and soon by people who know nothing about him. The creature Victor had made was made up of limbs from dead corpse and sewn together. Victor made him to be 8 foot tall, with translucent yellowish skin that was hardly pulled over the muscles. He also had watery eyes that looked to sag, and his mouth was clothed with black lips and protuberant white teeth.

When the monster comes across the De Lacey's, he notices how they treat each other. They are caring for one another and love each other. They are not a very wealthy family, but the monster seems to think that they have everything they need. He has been stealing some of there food and eventually figures out that they are suffering from poverty. One of the De Lacey’s in particular (blind man) treats the monster kindly. He can’t see which is why the old man doesn’t show terror like the others
