Veterinarian Ambitions

As a child, I already knew what I wanted to be in life. I would spend hours laid back on the couch watching Animal Planet, with books scattered across the floor filled with information on any and every animal that ever came to existence. Most of the time, my best friends were the pets I owned, ranging from dogs, cats, and even birds throughout my life. As I grew, I knew that I wanted a career that involved taking care of animals. Once I reached the age of 13 I decided on becoming a veterinarian. Now, at the age of 17, I plan on following this dream of mine. However, it will not be easy for me, but being prepared may help.

Knowing that the road towards following this goal will not be a blissful ride, but a difficult journey is the first step in achieving my goal. The awareness of how much effort I have to put into becoming a veterinarian will prepare me early on in life of what I can do to prepare myself. With this, I aim to work as hard as I can while still in school and ready myself for college. The high school I attend is a college preparatory school, and offers many opportunities to better myself academically. The career is only for those with a passion for growing and caring can attain. Through preparing early on during high school, I can attain my goal of becoming a veterinarian. However, this goal cannot be reachable if I do not attend a good college that can further prepare me for veterinary school. Getting into such a college, like the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, can help improve myself academically and mentally for the workload I will most likely receive once I get to that higher point in life.
