Many people are frustrated with people who have a vegan diet and live a vegan lifestyle because they believe they are too pushy about there beliefs and many are, but the media around the world has always been pushing for a high fat fast food diet. Of all raw materials and fossil fuels used in the U.S., more than one-third are devoted to raising animals for food.” Not only is this using up our means of energy agriculture companies deforest much of our earth just to make room to continue this terrible process PETA claims that “Of all agricultural land in the U.S., 87 percent is used to raise animals for food. That’s 45 percent of the total land mass in the U.S. About 260 million acres of U.S. forest have been cleared to create cropland to produce feed for animals raised for food. The meat industry is directly responsible for 85 percent of all soil erosion in the U.S.” (peta.org). we are killing our environment just to feed the population food that some would argue is not nutritionally essential. Eventually we will run out of space and all the rainforest will be used up and what will we do then? What will earth’s climate become? Meat industry also affects the health of its employees and near by residents. People who live near these factory farms claim to get headaches and burning eyes due to the horrendous odors. Factory farming causes unnecessary suffering to animals. These animals are stuffed into small cages and that is where they spend their entire lives until they are killed for their flesh. Pigs are so crammed together and live in their own waste, many of them get infections and some of them begin eating and chewing on each other’s bodies. The animals struggle and shriek in fear of their lives, they are not killed as promptly as some might believe some even go on to suffer through processing. A testimony from a slaughterhouse employee shows just how cruel they can be: “I’ve drug cows till their bones start breaking, while they were still alive.
