People in magazines are absolutely stunning— to be like them is what men and women all over the world could only dream of. But little do they know, these models are not what they seem to be. Women are plastered with makeup and body alterations to make them “unrealistically thin” (“Beauty and Body”). Even for men, magazine editors alter pictures to make their bodies strong and fit. Although body expectations are set too high, specialists are seeking a way to set the bar lower. Meanwhile,, men and women are being forced to think what is attractive and what is not. Such as being too fat or to skinny. Many research has suggested that 86% of all women are not happy with their bodies and constantly want to lose weight (“Beauty and Body”). With all the high expectations the media is feeding to their audience, how could one not think they need to lose weight? We see it through magazines, we see it in movies; as a result, men and women all over the world want the unrealistic bodies that the media creates in these mediums. …show more content…

As previously said, people see this everywhere they go. Citizens all over this world turn their heads and see an altered picture without even realizing it. The average model in the runway fashion industry has a body mass index under 16 (“Is it Time”). This is not only a sickly body mass index, it is unattractive. Having young women see this presented as attractive can become just as sickly. Models on the runway should not have to starve themselves in order to be what the runways ideal beauty is.
