Uniqueness. It is what separates you from the other 7.4 billion people on Earth. Although many may think that what you look like is how you are individualized (which is true and plays a big role), what really makes you stand out are your values. Just as your values shape who you are, like family or your favorite sport, your life experiences shape your values. That is why learning from your mistakes or understanding history and background is crucial. In the novel, The Probability of Miracles, written by Wendy Wunder, a strong sixteen-year-old fighting cancer by the name of Campbell Cooper, has had seven years of ups and downs, in and out of hospitals. For she has struggled severely, she learns to be optimistic from her previous experiences and gets motivation from her precious values, family, friends, life, and hope. However, she doesn’t know that because of how her life experiences have negatively shaped her values, this experience will completely backfire. As demonstrated by Wendy Wunder, even when one is faced with difficult life experiences, it can have a positive impact towards the character, which allows for them to have positive values as well. Campbell (Cam) Cooper lost both her father and her best friend so suddenly, but despite that event, she learned to value life and to live it to the fullest, which is why she made her bucket list at sixteen-years-old. According to The Probability of Miracles by Wendy Wunder, Campbell’s father had died out of the blue, right after her parents had split up a few years ago. She loved him dearly and wanted nothing more than to just spend time with him, but was always in the hospital or with her mother. The text also mentions that before Cam headed to Promise, Main, she visited Lily, however, when she did so it ended up being a complete disaster, for they got into a massive fight, making Cam take her family
