World War II, also known as the Second World War was fought by Japan, Germany and Italy, also referred to as the Axis powers; that went against the Allies that consisted of the United States, the Soviet Union, and Britain with help from others. 60 to 80 billion deaths were the result of World War II ("Reasons for American Entry Into WWII"). Initially the United States did not want to interfere with a war going on in a different continent. At the start of the war America began a state of isolationism which kept America away from the war; until its “breaking point”. America’s deviation from isolationism in World War II is what establishes them as a powerhouse country economically an. Also, how America’s growth industrially lead to a post-war boom. Prior to the United States entering the war, the major problem in America was the Great Depression. As they watched the war spread, many maintained the “isolationist” mindset because of thoughts of World War I ("World War II."). Tragedy struck on December 7, 1941 when Japanese forces attacked Pearl Harbor. The attack on Pearl Harbor was the action that made the United States question their neutrality and was the last of the of the U.S’s isolation. Due to the tension between the United States and Japan preceding the war, the attack on Pearl Harbor was not much of a surprise ("World War II."). Three days later, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States. Now with the United States joining Britain in the fight against the Axis Powers industries began to produce military goods ("World War II"). Businesses increased because of the need for more people to work in the factories, so unemployment, caused by the Great Depression, lowered. The Japanese surrender did not occur until after the first bomb dropped of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and a second on Nagasaki. Reconstruction to the 21st Century) the war was finally over when Japan surrendered on August 14th. America’s entry into World War II had an importance to America after the war. The United States involvement in the war was long and took a toll on everyone in the war. The military of the U.S. was the deciding factor in World War II. The United States grew militarily and economically because of the war. Finally stopping the Great Depression and bringing on jobs for everyone including women, colored people and the fighters of the war.
In August of 1944 the war in Europe was over and the face off between the United States and Japan had finally arrived. The United States had to choose between sending hundreds of thousands of US soldiers, to invade Japan killing and being killed by the hundreds of thousands, OR dropping a newly developed weapon called the atomic bomb on two cities in Japan which would result in tens of thousands of civilian lives with little cost to US servicemen. The only hope of ending the war quickly and honorably was to drop the bombs. Calls for surrender were ignored and the Japanese hierarchy, Okinawa and Iwo Jima had shown clearly what an invasion of Japan would be like. The decision was made, the bombs were dropped, the war was ended and both military and civilian lives were saved by both countries.
World War II was an exceptional war for the United States. The United States emerged from the war as a world superpower and protector of all other nations. There were many reasons why the United States entered World War II, however President Franklin Roosevelt was in some way directly connected to every reason. Roosevelt wanted to enter World War II as soon as it started for political and economic needs. However, the American people did not want to enter in another war, such as World War I, that costs so many lives and money. Therefore, Roosevelt schemed a plan to enter the United States into World War II that would change the minds of the American people, including the direct aiding of Great Britain, the German bombing of a United States warship, and the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor.
The American home front during World War II is recalled warmly in popular memory and cultural myth as a time of unprecedented national unity, years in which Americans stuck together in common cause. World War II brought many new ideas and changes to American life. Even though World War II brought no physical destruction to the United States mainland, it did affect American society. Every aspect of American life was altered by U.S. involvement in the war including demographics, the labor force, economics and cultural trends. During the Great Depression, the American birth rate had fallen to an all-time low due to delayed marriages and parenthood.

In Conclusion, the success of the war was substantial impacted by the work on the home front. However, even though it had a substantial impact it wasn’t the only reason America was so successful. The way the production changed during World War Two still impacts our lives today due to all the great inventions we got out of World War Two and the decades after.
They had lost much territory and now were practically in debt for the damages which they had done during the war (1). These countries figured that the only way for them to get out of economic depression and revive their country was to take land from other countries, which was one of the reasons why the war began. The main countries which were involved in World War II were Germany, Japan, and Italy, which were known as the Axis Coalition, against the United States, the Soviet Union, and many other countries. Overall, World War II was seen as the most devastating war in human history. Each country had different types of weaponry and artillery which proved to be vital in the result of the war (World War 1).
Why did the U.S enter World War 2 in the first place? America was one of the few countries that did not get involved with battle during the war. This all changed in the first month of 1941. The U.S did get involved until the attack on Pearl Harbor on January, 7, 1941 by the Japanese occurred. This is the most common and well known reason for America joining the war but it is not the only reason why we got involved.
