The Great Depression was a period in America’s history that scarred the economic welfare of it citizens, however when it was over the many lessons were learned and the American people became stronger than before. Leaders and politicians kept a positive attitude and expected that once the country bounced back from the lost, that it would be an uphill battle to sustain the economy. President Herbert Hubert stayed optimistic but he could not dodge being blamed for the economic downfall by the American people and as a result was not re-elected. Many believed that The Great Depression was just a recession that could have been remedied, instead leading monetary authorities made poor decisions that caused the recession to worsen.
The stock market crashed in October of 1929. Also known as ‘Black Tuesday’ this crashed deleted the value of all paper stocks. A lot of people lost their life savings and unemployment rose to a rate of 25%. Although The Depression happened here in the United States, many counties world-wide were affected as they relied heavenly on companies that exported their goods from America.
Inevitably business began to become greatly affected by the Great Depression. Since the stock market crashed they lost a large some on their capital. They had to cut back things like the products that had to be sold and the hours and wages of employees and even had to lay off their workers. Without consumer spending, the country saw many companies close.
Not only did companies on main street become affected by the depression so were small farmers. Dust storms destroyed crops they not only could not pay back money borrowed from banks for seeds; they...

As hard as it is to work together with Congress, he created programs and jobs to help Americans who were suffering from the rise of unemployment rates during the Great Depression. During the New Deal, Franklin made sure that minority groups like African Americans got just as much as others and were treated fairly during a time of bigotry and racism.
At war time, Roosevelt demanded that good military jobs were given minorities. With these jobs came fair compensation and respectable benefits. When Pearl Harbor was bombed it transformed the U.S. economic and social status for good. Some say that the bombing of Pearl Harbor marked the end of the Great Depression. When the World War II began troops were needed. Men were drafted and women were needed to work in factories and stayed behind to sustain the family.
