Intrapersonal essay One of my favorite songs of all time would have to be Troubadour by George Strait. This has always been one of my favorite songs I would always listen to it when I was a little kid even. I believe this song has always appealed so much to me because George strait is one of my favorite artists for artists and second because I liked the tune of the song and the way that it sounded. The last couple of years when I have listened to the song it has kind of took on a whole other meaning to me. Now I listen to the song and I really appreciate it. The song talks about George being a troubadour his whole life from when he was a young boy to now and to when he will pass away. A troubadour has two meanings to me the first one is someone who writes songs and is somewhat of a poetic figure. The second which is more of a personal perspective is someone that is tough and rolls with the punches. The song also talks about not changing and staying true to yourself. Which is very important to me. I say this because although throughout your life there are going to be many different things that influence you to change. Although these things may be very tempting at times and may seem very intriguing always follow your heart and do what you feel is right. Whenever I hear this songs it makes me want to …show more content…
So don’t let your age, weight, ethnicity, or physical features in general limit what you are capable of. Another message that I get from this song is to never let people limit you either because there are people out there that will try to bring you down and there are people out there that will try to bring you up as well. So it is important to know how to trust and work with
Florida Georgia Line consists of two country singers, Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard. Ever since the two met at college, their careers have taken off. Florida Georgia Line is well known for its hit, “Cruise” which has had over one million downloads sold and topped both country radio charts. Due to this success, a remix was created with Nelly. This original song was released in 2012, and is part of the album, “Here’s to the Good Times,” whereas the remix was released in 2013.
“Hurt” a song originally recorded by Nine Inch Nails which portrays self-harm and heroin addiction has been covered by many great artists including Johnny cash. When Johnny cash covered this song I got a deferent message from the lyrics while he sings it, maybe it is because of his voice or how he lived his life, but when he is singing this song I get a sense that he is singing about a loved one that has passed on, growing older, and his legacy.
This song talks a lot about the baggage of the past that people hold onto instead of letting it go. All that baggage is only going to end up hurting you more and more instead of helping you in any way possible. An example is the opening
The song I chose is called “Before He Cheats”. It was composed by Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins, and it was performed by Carrie Underwood. It is about when a guy cheats on Carrie Underwood so she demolishes his truck. I chose this song because it is hilarious and I like it. It also has a lot of imagery.
In this song, she sings about events that have oppressed the African American people and other ethnicities in the United States for many years. In the song she states (line 60) “Mafia with diplomas keeping us in a coma trying to own a piece, of the "American Corona”, The Revolving Door, Insanity every floor, Skyscraping, paper chasing, What are we working for? Empty traditions, Reaching social positions, Teaching ambition to support the family superstition?” In this part of the song she is saying that everyone today is trying to be successful and trying to accomplish the American dream. She says that trying too hard to be successful is toxic and it will mess with one’s traditions that he or she does. She also is saying that in some ways it will mess with one’s social abilities with one’s family and friends. Success is only good if one is doing good and feeling good in the end. It is not good when there is no good in involved. Therefore, that’s why she calls it
Perhaps the only song I've ever been able to attribute as my favorite song is Kuroi Ledge by A Lot Like Birds, and it holds an immense amount of meaning to me. I discovered this song searching for new music as I always did, however there was quite a difference with this song, this band, I could listen to them for hours on end. This song not only awakened something in me, it helped me face some of my worst possible fears, but some of my worst realities as well: abandonment, suicide, and the idea of finding a certain beauty in tragedy. Kuroi Ledge, literally translates from Japanese to Black Ledge, we see the danger in this, the metaphor of a dark ledge tempting us to go further, and
“Fire away. Take your best shot, show me what you got. Honey I’m not afraid (Chris, Lines 4-5)…” Strength, love, heartache, all words that many people can identify with, but what about mental illness, depression, and suicide. These words are those that humans avoid, pretend they are not there, but in reality those three words effect many more people that was ever thought possible. Over 18.2% of United States citizens suffer from a mental illness (Depression), 6.7% of United States citizens suffer from depression (Depression), and each year in the United States there are on average 42,773 deaths by suicide (American). Now, many people can relate to the words love and heartbreak, but many more can identify with the three words that the world

After a rough day, when people come home from work, they need something that will make their day better. Any music helps to release people from their everyday lives. For some it is like going on vacation, or a home away from home. It not only gives strength, hope, but it helps relieves stress. Music is essential to everyday life in this world. People have become what they listen to. “The most important requirement of popular music is that is must appeal to a large number of people” (Yudkin 284). Pop country music is one of America’s favorite genre’s to listen to. Its roots began in rural America. Looking back, country music has drastically evolved and changed moving away from its original sound. Pop country is what has taken over much of the country genre. The joining of country and pop began in
In 2005, the streets of New Orleans were scattered with bodies sprinkled like confetti from the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Rain fell like bullets from the sky as the Heavens released their sorrowful tears onto the people of New Orleans, who feel especially passionate about this natural disaster; one prominent member of the New Orleans community during this time, known as Lil Wayne, later went on to write about the hardships of the time period in a song called “Georgia Bush”. From the introduction of the song “Georgia Bush,” the audience is automatically informed of Lil Wayne’s obvious hatred and fury with the subject matter at hand: former President George Bush, whom he blames for the horrible aftermath of Hurricane Katrina; Lil Wayne felt

Country music is “a branch of American Popular Music (Country Music)” that dates back to the 1920s. The music itself is a combination of folk music arising from the southern United States, with “cowboy” music from the Wild West. The beats, the harmony, and the flow are generally simple and allow for listening at ease. Lyrical analysis separates country music from mixing with other categories, as it is associated with ballads and stories – the songs are fit to tell. Any and all accompaniment is, in general, strings, fiddles, and harmonica. While modern music balances the artist with digital sound, country music remains true with unity of said instruments. When describing country, upon interpretation the term “twang” is used; twang can range
There is a belief that since America is unsegregated everyone is now equal and it is possible to achieve the American Dream. However, the passing of civil rights laws does not make up for the lost time during discrimination and segregation. Claudia Rankine clearly demonstrates that the black community continues to face discrimination, stereotypes, and prejudice. Additionally, she states that minor incidents are actually a part of the societal and political problem that needs to change. There are two messages Rankine sends. The first “It wasn’t a match, I say. It was a lesson.” Meaning that the purpose of the lyric is for the reader to gain insight into what it means to be black. The second message feels almost hopeless: “I don't know how to end what doesn't have an ending,” demonstrating that it has been decades of these events occurring, because there is no solution and questioning if there ever will
In essence, this song carries various sociological concepts. It concentrates on the main idea about the social construction of reality and talking about how reality is changing. The song questions the actions and mentally of individuals violating the norms and values of society. The band takes into consideration various factors of why it is happening including the media and religion. As a result they talk about such influences taking control building and developing a sense of self. This is a great song about present day problems and how society changes with them.
The song is interesting because reading the lyrics, listening to the song, and watching the music video all give different meanings about the song. Reading the lyrics suggests that the song is a depressing story about the inner turmoil the writer is feeling and how he is not sure what to do with his life. But after listening to this upbeat and happy song, it seems like it may not be as dreary as it seemed at first. After watching the music video the message can be reinterpreted to be about the internal conflicts of a soldier fighting in a war and he does not know what he is fighting for. The fact that the music completely changes how the lyrics are interpreted is interesting. Nate uses many literary techniques to make this song mysterious and open to interpretation depending on how it is experienced.
