The song I chose is called “Before He Cheats”. It was composed by Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins, and it was performed by Carrie Underwood. It is about when a guy cheats on Carrie Underwood so she demolishes his truck. I chose this song because it is hilarious and I like it. It also has a lot of imagery. “Before He Cheats” is about a guy who cheated on Carrie Underwood and she gets revenge. It talks about how this guy is going on dates and dancing with another girl. So she gets even by demolishing his four wheel drive truck. She carved her name into his leather seats. And slashed a hole in all four tires. Then Carrie said “maybe next time he’ll think before he cheats”. She also said she saved some trouble for the next day. The Most obvious poetic device in “Before He Cheats” is imagery. Imagery is the use of language to convey sensations through our senses (hearing, sight, smell touch, tasting). She said “Right now, he's probably up behind her with a pool stick, Showing her how to shoot a combo”. I can actually see this in my head. It says that a few time just to get across that he cheated and why she got her revenge. She also always repeats how she destroyed his truck. She said “ I dug my keys into the side of his pretty little souped-up four-wheel drive, Carved my name into his leather seats, I took a Louisville slugger to both headlights, I slashed a hole in all four tires” This goes with mabe he’ll think before he cheats because if this happened to him next time he probably won’t cheat on
