The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is about two gangs that always fight even though no one did anything to either of them. The two gangs are the Socs and the Greasers. The Socs are the cool and very wealthy kids and the Greasers are poor and the only real family they have are the gang to which they belong. The Greasers have it worse because they have a tough family life, it’s difficult to find joy in what they do in life, and they are always jumped by the Socs. Greasers have a tough family life. Pony, Soda, and Darry live together because their parents died. Johnny mom and dad are always drunk and they don’t care about him. Bally’s parents don’t care about him either, he could go to prison for life and they wouldn’t care. “Since Mom and Dad were killed in the auto wreck” (3).
