The concept is great for a toddler toy. The Hasbro Busy Ball Popper toy is a series of short chambers with a fan at the end. There are balls in the chamber and when the child pushes a button the toy turns on and blows the balls out the top. The soft plastic balls spray into the air and make for hours of toddler and child fun. The toy is very popular and sold almost anywhere that toys can be found including Walmart, Target, and Kmart. It can also be found at on line stores such as Amazon, eBay, and others. A large portion of parents I know with toddlers also have this toy in their home. Today while playing at a brothers house, my daughter who is two and a half, and my nieces who are one and three were playing while four of us adults were talking.
I've always thought this was a little too strict. I mean, come on, kids are kids. 10 toys is practically nothing to them. Imagine going through your kid's toys and picking out only 10 of them and then taking the rest to Goodwill or selling them at a yard sale. You'd be left with a measly little pile of entertainment for your kids. Is that really enough? When I had my first child I had to have lots of toys for her to play with. I had to have light-up toys, musical toys, stuffed animals, ride-on toys, dvds, books, balls, baby dolls, etc. I wanted her to have it all! I couldn't possibly have only had 10 toys for her. What kind of mother would I be? My daughter is now 15 months old and has at least over 100 toys. It's crazy, it really is. And at the end of the day, when she's pulled out every possible toy she has and has littered the living room and kitchen floors with them all, and is walking around whining because she's so bored....it's times like that when I think the 10 toy rule sounds like the best idea under the sun. If she just had a small selection of toys, maybe she wouldn't take them for granted. Maybe she would actually entertain herself with them. Maybe she'd actually learn something from the educational ones or learn to sing the songs from the musical ones or want to read to books. Just maybe she'd be happier! And who would have thought that LESS toys could make your child HAPPIER. I'm now in the process of putting away or giving away the majority of her toys and keeping out only a select few that she really 'needs'. I can't say that she'll only be left with 10 toys but as long as it's less than what she has now, I'll be fine. I'm also working on letting everyone else in our family know about our new toy rule, especially Grandma who likes to bring a new toy every time she stops by. It's not necessary for our kids to have so many toys. They
