In To Kill a Mockingbird a lawyer has been asked to defend a black man. Back in the 30's it was unbearable to defend a colored man. Tom Robinson was accused of raping a white woman, but he had not done it. Atticus Finch, the lawyer, had been asked to take the case, and so he did. He never gave up in trying to convince the jury that he was innocent.
