Igor Stravinsky and Pablo Picasso are both unique artists that have made a huge impact on the world of arts through there controversial works. Igor Stravinsky’s “Rite of Spring” was a ballet and orchestral concert piece of work and Picasso’s “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” was one of his most influential paintings. Picasso’s piece caused an uproar because it depicted nude females which were the represented of prostitutes, which at that time was not acceptable. Then Stravinsky’s ballet and music started riots because it discarded tradition western style and instead use ancient rituals. They may have started controversy but through there similarities in their works they made a vital impact on the 20th century. Both “Rite of Spring” and “Les Demoiselles d’Avignon” expressed the abandonment of conventional artistic standards. “Rite of spring” started buzz because it wasn’t the usual ballet and music people where accustomed to.
