The Titanic was known to be the largest unsinkable ship built. The Titanic was also known as one of the deadliest commercial disasters in modern history. “Not even God himself could sink this ship.” Said by an unknown crew member. The construction of The Titanic was built to be unsinkable, to be an icon of transportation, and to be a disaster that should have never happened.
The layout of The Titanic was different from any other ship. The Titanic was the largest ship built in that time, it was made with ten decks. Which all had their own purpose. There are three parts of the top layer of the ship. Such as: The Fore, Amidships, and The Aft. The Fore was toward the front of the ship, The Amidships was the middle, and The Aft was toward the back. …show more content…

The ten decks were sectioned off for each class. There was the Boat that was the officer’s bridge, the Promenade that was the reading and writing room, the Bridge that was the forecastle deck, and the shelter that was the crew mess. There also was the Salon, Upper, and Middle which was the cabins; The last three are the lower, orlop, and Tank top. That nothing could take it down. The Titanic has sixteen watertight compartments and could still stay afloat while four compartments flooded. Also built in the titanic was big door that automatically shut when water hit a certain level. In the deep waters of the Atlantic ocean, the Titanic took a turn for the worst. Some say the boat was speeding others say it was just an accident. The iceberg was spotted at eleven thirty ish p.m. even though the ship did not have a dead on collision the side of the ship violently scrapped the iceberg ripping open six compartments. The ship was designed to withstand only four compartments to flood. We all know why the Titanic sunk, and why over half the passengers died. But what could have been done to prevent this tragedy. The ship was designed to withstand four compartments to flood with water, but if they would have made it to withstand six compartments the ship might have had a better chance of saving a lot more people. Also another thing is if they had more than twenty lifeboats on board, which 2 of them floated off, that could have saved more
