Mercy killing is when a person's life is taken away in which they are not in pain. Killing someone is usually murder but when it's for someone's greater good then it is an act of love. In the book Of Mice And Men by John Steinbeck, a merciful killing is demonstrated. The novel takes place in Soledad, California during The Great Depression. George and Lennie are two migrant workers. Lennie's brain is like a small child so George takes care of him. After Lennie accidentally kills Curley's wife, george makes the right decision by taking lennie's life to spare him from a painful death.
