Since the beginning of time, every species has been faced with their greatest trial in life: survival. Humans as a species have become masters of defying death. Even faced with overpopulation, itself the result of successfully defying death and sure catalyst to the downfall of a population, we as a species have nevertheless learned to cope and continue to reproduce and thrive. As individuals, each human being possesses one of the greatest wills for survival in our natural world. Our societal views of the value of life and the fear of death, our intellectual dominance, and our physical adaptability allow us to cling to life under the harshest conditions.
Though survival of the individual is a vital part of every species’ continuance, human society, particularly western culture, has made a point of idolizing the idea of survival throughout religion and modern day culture. From the beginning, the first man had to fight not only for his own survival, but also for the future of human kind. A main goal of many religions was procreation to increase population size, a goal we have certainly achieved. In today’s western society, we propagate ideas like, “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger,” “this too shall pass,” and “it will get worse before it gets better.” In the book A Long Way Gone, the father of the author, Ishmael Beah, tells his son, “If you are alive, there is hope for a better day and something good to happen. ...ingdom. Our physical adaptability, mental compensation, and ingrained optimism are all represented in the human belief that, “We must live in the radiance of tomorrow, as our ancestors have suggested in their tales. For what is yet to come tomorrow has possibilities, and we must think of it, the simplest glimpse of that possibility of goodness. That will be our strength. That has always been our strength.” (Ishmael Beah, “Radiance”) This common human strength has allowed our species not only to survive but also to thrive for years past, and presumably for years to come.

From many dark to happy times that were never ending. Ishmael Beah examines his life with different tones that enhanced the effect of the story through many intriguing events. From happy occasions to horrendous times of war, with the rebel attack on his home village, to losing his family and being forced to fight the rebels as an army soldier. Beah started out with suspenseful and terrifying tones when he was separated from family and friends when the war started and had to survive on his own. Then the tone changed to dark, life-threatening, and dismal when he reluctantly was in the army killing rebels and given drugs to cope and continue killing. In conclusion, the tone was pleased, satisfied, and peaceful when he was rehabilitated out of the army and went to New York City where he was adopted and could be a kid

Being a nurse is a great opportunity for people to show the world what they can do and to put themselves out there to make a difference. A nursing career can help you to become more confident in yourself. There are many types of nurses but we will be focusing on Registered Nurses(RN) because RN’s are the main connection between the doctors and the patients. Registered Nurses have long hours, many daily duties, and even influence the other nurses by guiding them in their career. However, they are rewarded with a good salary, and the thought knowing that they saved lives that day.
The one career that is passionate about helping people is a Registered Nurse. Nurses have a lot of task to attend to throughout the day, but they always make sure the patient is take care of. This would require a lot of time and effort. Some people might say that the money is worth it. In A Long Way Gone, Ishmael Beah, a former boy soldier with the Sierra Leone army during its civil war(1991- 2002) with the rebels of the Revolutionary United Front (RUF), provides an extraordinary and heartbreaking account of the war, his experience as a child soldier and his days at a rehabilitation center. At the age of twelve, when the RUF rebels attack his village named Mogbwemo in Sierro Leone, while he is away with his brother and some friends, his life takes a major twist. While seeking news of his family, Beah and his friends find themselves constantly running and hiding as they desperately strive to survive in a land rendered unrecognizable by violence. During this time, he loses his dear ones and left alone in the wilderness, is forced to face many physical and psychological dangers. By thirteen, he has been picked up by the government army, and is conditioned to fight in the war by being provided with as many drugs as he could consume (cocaine and marijuana), rudimentary training, and an AK-47. In the next two years, Beah goes on a mind-bending killing spree to avenge the death of his dear ones. At sixteen, he was picked up by UNICEF, and through the help of the staff at the rehabilitation center, he learns to forgive himself and to regain his humanity.
Most people question whether to go into a career in the medical field, but what really drew my attention to the profession of a Registered Nurse is the fact that they help people in more than one place, they are higher up in the medical field, and they put in a lot of time and effort in to tending the needs of their patients. The profession of a registered nurse is one that requires us to care for the health of others.
Registered Nursing is a well-known job here in the United States and many other countries as well. RN’s play an important role in today’s society and contribute to the community a lot. Their job consist of keeping people healthy and caring for the ones who need it. I chose this topic for my research paper because I feel that it would be an interesting job and I would love to learn more about the field itself.
Registered Nursing will always thrive in the medical field because of the aging times. Elderly people tend to need medical attention and people to care for them. People will always get sick and need help getting better. Therefore nurses will always need to be around to help aid doctors in there diagnosis to get patients better. Dedicating all the time and patience to each and every person who needs help is what will make the job worthwhile.
‘“Survival can be summed up in three words - never give up. That 's the heart of it really. Just keep trying,” said Bear Grylls. Unlike other animals, humans are unique and irreplaceable can do many things that other species can’t do. From the second a human being like creature has formed, there are always ways for humans to survive, not matter under what circumstances. Despite all the natural disasters , humans have found ways to survive.
Death is a central focus of conversation that individuals and society discuss when analyzing the meaning of life. It is an aspect of life that everyone at some point must become acquainted with. There is one thing that every living thing can be sure of: “I will eventually die.” This paper will examine a number of issues that can arise once an individual reflects on their own mortality.
Registered nurses have a high level of respect in the medical field for quite a few different reasons. Considering nurses help save lives and care for people in their time of need, there exists a pronounced deal of pride nurses have because of what they do. Registered nursing is my dream career, but in order to become one, I must accomplish multiple goals and meet various requirements. First, I must meet the extensive educational requirements needed to become a registered nurse. Second, I will need to make sure I can meet all of the job requirements-both mental and physical. Lastly, nursing offers various personal benefits both in and out of the workplace. For these reasons, I believe nursing is the ideal career for myself to work with.
