In the film "The Secret Life of Bees" a film from 2008 that was directed by Gina Prince-Blythewood. The casting of the film "The Secret Life of Bees" is Dakota Fanning, Queen Latifah, Jennifer Hudson, Sophie Okanedo, Hilarie Burton, and Paul Bettaney. This film is based on an award winning book also called "The Secret Life of Bees". This book is set in the 1960s where there were discriminations against colored people. Lily is a fourteen year old girl who is trying to find many answers to her story. While doing so, she encounters many interesting answers that will lead her to the final question. When Lily was young her mother passed away suddenly. Lily was left with nobody to love her, except her housekeeper Rosaleen, her only mother figure. The cast did an awesome jobs playing the role but they did not have the same characteristics as the book. The book had more emphasis on some of the characters that weren't important in the movie. May has such an important role in the book but is not important in the book. Another character that is different is Rosaleen. Rosaleen seems to be about over thirty in the book but in the movie she seems young and gentle while in the book she was tough and sassy. Although the characters were different.
There were many major changes in the book. Obviously there would be changes but in "The Secret Life of Bees" movie, the resolution was completely different. The movie left a lot of scenes out where characters were left out. The movie also made it seem like a love story rather than a coming of age movie. Even though the movie was way different from the book, it was still a great production. The movie was a horrible screen adaptation due to too many things that were left
