When America was first established, they had the highest voting turnouts ever in American history. Ever since, America’s voting turn-out has dropped (Fortin). The reason for the high turn outs were because American colonists wanted change from the British’s electoral system. As history writes, American colonist rebel and over time becomes one of the greatest countries ever. Today, Americans are one of the worst countries in vote to registration as they rank 120 in the world (Pintor). Over the summer, I got to learn more about Ohio’s electoral system and voting turn outs in a first hand experience. Factors of Ohio’s election system included redistricting reform, early voting, the voting registration process and provisional ballots. Ohio’s electoral system may be similar to the national governments, but it still has lots of work to be done. One main factor that differs is the redistricting. Ohioans believe the districting needs to be changed. Just last election, the Ohio people passed Issue 1 which had to do with redistrict for voting. The issue was voted for by the majority of the Ohio people (Ballotpedia). Besides redistricting, the other electoral system factors are the same as the national government. One way America can change this stereotype is to have a bigger voter turnout. I believe the best way to achieve this goal is to making voting simpler. To vote, you are required to go through a small inconvenient process just to register to vote. America should get rid of registering to vote and let everyone with a valid ID vote. An ID shows proof where you live, your age, and if you’re a registered American or not. The government should make only one tweak in the ID system to make sure there are no false voters. When getting your ID, the government should implement your fingerprint on the ID card so when you vote, you scan your ID and fingerprint to register and vote at the same time. America has the technology to implement this kind of new data and generating false IDs would be a problem of the past. This machine would create more jobs, less voting scandals, and the end of an obnoxious voting registration
