Gun control has been a major issue for many years now and it seems as time progresses gun violence rates are increasing. There has been massive shootings in the United States because not everyone who posses a gun is in the right state of mind. Firearms have been handed down to the wrong people and the laws they have against firearms have been very controversial. There are many disagreements to the safety requirements of purchasing a gun. Although they have been safety requirements before it has not stopped the violence because it keeps increasing. Therefore the law makers have been discussing if guns should be allowed or banned from certain places. Mentally unstable people will do anything in account of winning people’s attention; therefore, making them extremely dangerous. When “television … exploded in popularity in the 1950’s, broadcast rising violence into the majority of American homes”; television has always disguised violence as fun or not real dangerous (Malcolm 11). Many people watch television no matter in what mood they are in or if they understand it or not, they like to be entertained. A mentally unstable person can be very depressed or may feel so rejected by everyone that they will turn their TV on and will be able to see all the great attention that is given to the criminals and will want to gain that for themselves causing insane, dangerous scenes. During the 1950’s, America witnessed some of the countries leaders assassinations like “ President Kennedy, Sen. Robert F Kennedy, Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., and Malcolm X”(Newhard 11). If violence rose uncontrollably that people started shooting, killing a few American leaders, why would they not try to shoot any random citizen? Why not kill vulnerable citizens where no one is allowed to carry firearms, would that not catch the attention of many because of masses of deaths in one scene? Mentally unstable people do not care of the consequences, they feel no purpose for their life in consequence of if they do not care for their own selves, why would they care about others?
