Journey Towards Choosing the Right Career

Choosing a career can be challenging, because there are so many career options, but overcoming the challenges of achieving those careers can be proven to be difficult sometimes. When I was a little girl, I use to play pretend doctor most of the time. I use to pretend giving injections to my little brothers and pretend to nurse them back to health. As I became older, I was very certain that I wanted to become a pediatrician doctor; however, once I enrolled myself into a Community College, my perspective changed. I learned that everything was not as simple as I thought. I became uncertain of the career I wanted to strive. There is so much studying, and much information that has to be absorbed, learned, and analyzed. The closer I become to achieving one of my goals, the further I feel from achieving it. All the work that has to be done can be very stressful. Even so, studying can be time consuming, which leaves me no time for work and spending time with my love ones. I can expect much stress in my future from the learning aspect of nursing, but I will cope with it as I have learned to do so presently. The support from my friends, family, and peers has given me the motivation to not give up on my passion. Even so, having a study group or tutoring helps with the studying process and learning. Often times, I workout for an hour to release some of my stress and working on the weekends is the only time I spend not studying. I find myself to be very fortunate to have the opportunity to achieve a career of self-worth in nursing, which is a long process and takes hard work. The aspect of nursing that gives me the motivation to achieve it, are the values and beliefs. Throughout my childhood, I spend most of my time in a hospital. During those difficult moments, I experienced many positive encounters with many nurses. The career of nursing allows individuals the opportunity to find meaning in life by allowing them to devote their time to help others find their healing in a holistic manner.
